Come drive for Navajo. Tell them I sent you. I wouldn't mind picking up a recruiting bonus.

Pre tax and at the DC I was at Crete Carrier had the contract. Most of the driving was at night and you had to drive in bad weather. Sleeping in the daylight is a challenge for most people so it is not as popular of a job as you might think.

The truth a new trucker will make 25,000 to $40,000 first year. Once you have 12 to 24 months of clean driving then you can get in the door at places paying much more.

I feel ya. Trucking is a second career for many. In fact, I'm willing to bet a significant portion of your CDL class will be 40+. Strike up a conversation in any drivers lounge and it won't be long before you meet a few other ex-teachers who are now driving. Along with retirees, IT pros, engineers, even the occasional attorney. Some want a change, lots of us were downsized/outsourced over the last few years and are now on to Plan B. All this to say... you're not alone.

I'm doing the same thing. I need a career change from being a Realtor. Driving has always been something I wanted to do. Good luck with your decision. Hope all works out best for you.
