Edit in 1 minute on duty time 8 hours ago. Costs you 1 minute of your 70 & gets you another 2 hours of rest...

I never had to do it for "harassment" but I did use it to kill an unnecessary 34 when I knew I might get another 34 in less than 7 days...

You might want to speak to them. It seems for one thing, that dispatch can edit the elog database... run up against your 14? Not for long.

As a matter of fact concerning my first post I wrote a 7 page letter to FMCSA a few months ago with many issues and concerns.I told them like it is.They did send me a long letter back weeks later, surprisingly I was very impressed how respectful they were, they answered all my questions in detail and will take some of my advice into consideration so they say which is just another way to shut drivers up..They gave me an email if I have anymore concerns ill be more then happy to post it so you can go directly to this person.Let me find the email then ill post it.

Coming from a person who drove for Werner for 3 yrs elogs is the least of the drivers problems, its the load planners.

The statement that dispatchers or planners can adjust from within a drivers log using Quallcomm is BUNK! DRIVING/Line 3 cannot be edited even by Safety or Log department. Any other line can be edited by either the driver, or the safety/log department. Dispatchers and planners are not allowed by the system. I know this for fact in setting up the e-log system with DHE and working directly with Quallcomm techs.

The statement of "harassment using e-log" is an interesting twist on what is actually happening. A planner or dispatcher can view the drivers logs, determine if the driver has available time and utilize this time to the company's advantage. OTOH, a driver who attempts to run down his/her clock by not changing the active line to an OFF DUTY or SLEEPER status and leaving it in the defaulted ON DUTY mode will be seen by the Dispatcher/Planner as a driver that is actually just lazy or trying to not do the run. When a company wants it's equipment to be efficient, they now have this tool to check and become more efficient.

IMO, this "driver harassment by e-log" has been promoted by unions and/or OOIDA in a lame attempt to keep electronic logging out of the industry.

Depends on the carrier Otter... some of the total bottomfeeders have harassment embedded so deeply into the corporate culture, elogs just becomes another way for them to get after their drivers.

My carrier can otter. Pos peoplenet unit would not let me log in. I started paper logs and a couple hours later when I got to my pickup I was able to log in. Compliance simply changed my on duty and drive times to match the paper log and I finished out the day on elog. Now this was adding drive time and the line on the elog was red to show it was edited. At least that much I know can be done by my company.

They can ADD to the drive line anytime....they can't REMOVE time on Line 3. Even the driver can add to drive time, however the GPS portion will remain the location where the editing was done, no matter how many hours or minutes is being put in. When you are looking at your graph portion, the RED section of line is the section you are currently reading. Push your "Previous" or "Next" button and watch the RED portion move the direction you are looking at.
