Unless that mechanic is a scientist in his spare time he's full of it and just giving you a answer because he doesn't know. No additive on the market will do what he is claiming or it would of been found and reported on by now.
trukngrl Thanks this. -
My guess is you bought fuel down south somewhere then went up north and had the gelling issue? Never heard of fuel gelling due to a chemical reaction, not saying it could happen but I highly doubt it.

Move your frig to the top bunk .. away from your fuel lines and tanks... 0_o

If you over treat your fuel it turns into something that resembles orange juice, cloudy yellowish. Seen it several times. After last winter, we saw it even more. Follow the directions on the treatment and do not over do it. It doesn't take much contamination to plug up and fowl todays injection systems.

Lucas fuel treatment is not an anti-gel, unless they are now making an anti-gel that I am not aware of. Lucas products are great but I am not a fan of there fuel treament and have read mixed reviews about it on other diesel forums. I use Power service white bottle in the winter, but also recommend Howes.

Well went and had the tanks cleaned. No gunk in them. And didn't show any gelling

So the mechanic is an idiot?trukngrl Thanks this.

I really don't know what else to do since it's not throwing any codes, but to run her until she does
-
Apparently he is. She's still doing the same thing. I'm at a loss. I'm not sure what else I can really do until it starts throwing codes
