bridge sign says 13' 6"

I said standard height which really implies no taller then 13'6' includes trailers.I've had smaller trks and actually prefer them over the huge condos.

 

If the sign was talking to me I'd probably pull over and take a nap.

 

Just run it and blame the sing if anything hits....

 

For some reason there were two roadside signs on I80 east, stating a 13'5" bridge at the OH 1 milepost. I used this philosophy, and life turned out just fine. No idea what the sign was on about, cause im definitely right at 13'6"

 

That sign on 80 actually says 13.5 which would be 13'6"

 

If I see something like that, or worse, an overpass with no markings on it at all and it appears less than 15', I slow way down, put the flashers on, stop at the edge, look out the window, and crawl slowly under it.
The purpose is to get the locals, including cops if possible pissed off with me as much as possible. Maybe then someone will start to take seriously the idea of marking bridges(don't get me started about NY State)accurately, and extra signs where you can turn around before there is a problem.

 

Blame the GPS.

 

Yes sounds good because common sense is no longer required. In the trucking industry

 

New York is the worst but I suppose the infrastructure is just outdated You have to be on your game when messing around out there

edit. I've only been to NYC twice and the last time was enough for awhile I need more experience before going back. Too much stress. Lol

 

I think if you slap a tape on the typical van rig you'll find the highest point closer to 13'.

I think it's important to note when a driver calls 911 for maneuvering issues their first words should be to the effect "This is not an emergency, but I'm from out of town and need a cop".
