Hrm.. maybe it's that people who like to quote the code typically go to SAGE?

In my past life, I learned early on that it's always best to back up your statements with documentation. Thus, if I am doubted - or even mistaken - the other person knows where I was looking. Saves time and energy all around.

Plus, it makes me look like I know what I'm talking about! :)

Ya, there's nothing like showing up for class at 7AM on the first day and getting word you'll be taking a pee test. I managed to down 3 cups of coffee and get the cup about 10% full. :\

I don't know why a school would need a GED or your MVR. I'd think they'd get the MVR on their own and I'm 100% sure there are truck drivers out here without a GED. Anyway, that probably applies to independent schools that try placing you with a selection of companies.

Didn't see anything in there about bringing the TIP. Guessing the school you went to actually had you get it in their state using their CDL manual? I had to retake my Class A CDL test to get the TIP. It had been quite a while (I had to take the class A test for my F endorsement), but I passed.

Yeah - TIP was part of the curriculum. 1st week or so concentrated on the CDL manual, then we went down and took the test(s). Once we had that passed and the TIP in hand, we got to play in the trucks.

To be fair, though, some of the guys did have their permit when they got to school. I like a guy who plans ahead. Wish I'd been one of them.

They make you get the MVR so it's on your dime, not theirs. I imagine they want it so they can see if it's worthwhile to even bother to teach you. I dunno.

I don't recall the school asking for my GED or diploma. The WIA people did, but not the school...I don't think.

My school said providing the diploma/GED was mandatory. If you didn't have one you had to take a competency test - CASAS (one of my group had to do that...)

When they got to me I said I didn't have my high school diploma since it was 25 years ago, and I thought my parents had it framed and hung in their study...... :biggrin_25520:

I told them I did have copies (official even) of my college transcripts which would show my degrees............

With a completely blank/straight face the rep told me that the industry had a requirement of proving each applicant had the "ability to benefit" and I had to order a copy of my high school diploma.

I made a joke and asked if they really thought if you went to college you got uneducated but she didn't get it.......... just kept being very serious about the need to prove a high school education...... :biggrin_25524:

I gave up........ called my old high school (where my mother had been principal recently for 10 years)...... and had them fax over proof...... The rep was thrilled......... :biggrin_25517:

For my own amusement the next day I told her that I had found a document she wanted me to bring...... "in the last place I looked"......... she remarked that the same thing always happened to her................ :biggrin_2559:

    Gotta love people........

oh, lordy. Some people really are TSTL.

When the WIA people wanted my HS diploma AND my birth certificate.. I handed them my DD214 instead. They accepted it.
