Prepare for the interview questions. Be ready to give them specific examples of past work experiences in a safety conscious environment, why you would be a good fit for this position, what you know about Halliburton, what an operator assistant does, your experience with heavy machinery, physical labor and safety equipment. And your answers to basic interview questions like (Tell me about yourself, strengths, weakness).

I'd also try applying online in the meantime if you see the position posted on their job site.

    no problem.

Be sure to show up early for the career fair. Halliburton is huge on that. The people that are there first usually have a better chance of getting hired.

Wow! This is by far the most informative thread I have been able to find on Halliburton cementing. I have been wanting to apply since I retired from the military last year, but landed in a single parenting situation (until mom gets back from overseas next summer). Security 58, thanks for all the information. I am currently in Ohio, and will be using my GI Bill to get my CDL this summer at Roadmaster in Columbus. I was also thinking about going to Monroe City, LA to do the 5 week "BattleField to OilField Program", just to get all the PEC certs, OSHA, etc. Its free for me, so I figured it couldn't hurt and might set me apart on the application. I really want to go to Alberta (or anywhere in Canada for that matter) to start. I see Halliburton posting Entry Level OA1 Cementing jobs up there...but do they send new folks from the US to those locations??? It sounds like cementing is right up my alley. I just want a real busy yard! Don't care about personal life, etc... want to build a nice little nest egg over the next 5 years. Anyone working out in eastern Ohio for Halliburton? Curious how many hours Zanesville crews are pulling down.

Former military, you don't need to waste your time on all that stuff. It won't help you get hired any more than military experience already will.

Thanks for the reply Patrickm213. Do you know if they will hire from the states for the OA1 positions in Canada? There seems to be a lot of work up there (Lloydminster especially). I cant find a good HR contact to ask the question to Halliburton directly.
