If someone wants to broker they can always do it at an asset-based company. Customers are already there and you can use the existing carrier-base.

You're wrong about truck driving not giving you that opportunity. There are several fleet owners on here who started with one truck. BigBadBill got his own authority 4 years ago. Three years ago I took a huge leap of faith and leased on at his company the 2nd truck. Today there's around 50 trucks. Ask cominghomesc about seeing a need and filling it.
But I agree with you 100% for someone who can sell brokering can be a great living. But successful ones aren't lounging in their pj's at home staring at a computer all day. Or brunch with the family at the finest of restaurants every day. It's no different than trucking. Everyone thinks they can do it and make a killing. Most can't.

Disgruntled...and others reading this...Id like to pass on a lesson I learned today.

Never, ever ever give a carrier a pickup address until they have the rate confirmation signed and returned to you. They might go and pick it up anyway before you even do that, and that could get you into a bind. City is fine, but not the address.

Thanks. I hate winter enough as it is, living in Michigan...but this spring and summer has been such an incredibly and terribly tough time to go through, I'm welcoming winter to wash away what happened. Cancer really does suck not only for the victim but for the family as well.

So bring on the winter, and let next spring come and bring forth a fresh start.

Hope everybody had a good Thanksgiving Day! My one wish is that the U.S.A. gets back on it's feet, economically, spiritually, and every which way possible.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!
