Somewhere in the wiring from the computer (silver box) behind the gauge panel the signals will work intermediately. You can play with the wiring and get them to come back on but sometimes not for long. I know the issue is with the wiring that runs to the main connector on the box but have checked the pins and don't see an issue with them.

We have a couple trucks with the exact same issue. One an 03 and the other an 04. I figure there must be other people having this issue as well.

Not exactly what you were asking, but I was having a time trouble shooting turn signal issues with my 2000. My problem was in the cable that runs from the firewall to the pigtail connector. Unplugging at the firewall made everything work again. Just a thought.

No my problem consists in the plug for the ecc. Anybody have a breakdown of the wires going to the main 24pin connector on the ecc behind the instrument panel?

I'm not sure if this is your problem or not but I thought I'd tell you my exsperance the other day.

I got a 2012 4900fa. I replaced my fender turn signals with some different style led units.
Wired them in , thought everything was fine till I turned the signals on. They would blink for a short time then quit. Or would not turn on at all.
Turned out the factory led signals I took off had a built in resistor to make the flasher work correctly.

I took the the original lights apart and wired the resistor into my new lights. Everything works fine now.

Not it sure if this is your issue or not but thought I'd throw it out there. If you recently installed new led turn signals you could have same issue your describing.

PDF zoom to 400% to read the detail. View attachment ECC wireing 872B1-3406.pdf

Now that worked! Every numbered wire and detail where it goes.

I was told the gauges wiring is the only difference with the data cable between the gauges.

Hello, I am having the exact same problem, with my 2006 Western Star 4900, messed around with those wire a bit which fixed it before, but now i am having other issues... The gauges don't light up and the odometer doesn't turn on when the key is turned on, it reads the miles out when i turn the headlights on... also the warning bell goes too even when the key is turned on... thanks

Check your fuses. Fuse 146 (DRL power) provides battery power to the gauges. Fuse 20 (lightbar) provides ignition power for the gauges. Also check fuse 2 (park lights/tail lights), if this one's blown you don't get any dash illumination when you turn your lights on.

I have seen each of these cause weird issues with the dash when blown. They each provide power to more things than what they are labeled as.
