At the Town Pump TS in Butte MT.

Sent a 2500 mile ppln to the Atlanta area last night, picking up at the Lewiston terminal. Two stops plus final. First stop in St Louis where I'll lose 1/2 of the 42K lb total. That'll make running I-24 through Nashville and Chattanooga much easier. 2nd and final are north and east of metro Atlanta.

The heavy weight made for a slow climb up US95N coming out of Lewiston but what a great view of the town from the top of the mountain in the predawn darkness!!

    Jurupa terminal.

I delivered my load this morning and had less than 3 hours left on my 70. I ended up having to take a high value load that t-calls in Phoenix tomorrow, and taking my 10 here because it is secure.

Well, it'll be a wee bit more than 10. There is no way I could get to sleep in time to start again at midnight.
    I figure I'll leave around 0400.

I hate not being able to stop for 200+ miles, but I couldn't get out of it. Oh well.
At least I got a load out of SoCal, and that is good.

Moosetek13, I'm in the Prequal lane at JV. Taking a 34 and planning to get home as soon as I get everything squared away with the truck.

The windshield that JV installed at the end of September has been howling like a bad porno flick. Troutdale tried to glue the seal in place last month (with the last trainee aboard), but it didn't work. Running through subfreezing temperatures this last week with my latest trainee, with temperatures down close to zero, we heard the occasional "CRACK!" and watched two cracks develop from the bottom seal area. The one on the passenger side is over a foot long and two days ago another crack started on the driver's side and is up to 5" long now.

I tried to sweet talk Driver Development into upgrading my current trainee now, with over five year's driving experience. No go, since the CDL lapsed over five years ago. Oh well, I'll look forward to teaming with a highly competent driver while I'm in the bunk. Just seems to be a waste of mentor resources IMHO, but that's up to the Compliance department and out of my hands.

Felt GREAT to get back to temperatures above freezing yesterday. I donned my shorts and polo shirt in celebration.

By the way, driving from City of Industry this morning I saw a straight truck driving along with one tire completely blown on the outside of the single drive axle, swaying from the obvious lack of support on that side. I followed him at a distance for a couple of miles as chunks of his tire flew off and the outside of his sidewall threatened to fly off.

I waited for a safe opportunity to pass him and honked the air horn and pointed down at his tire. He was completely clueless. Eventually he circled his finger by his temple to indicate I was "loco" (being of the Hispanic persuasion).

I was tempted to call 911, but didn't. I proceeded to get in front of him to avoid getting messed up with any final blowout of his inside tire.

Perhaps when he got to his destination he'll understand that he is the loco one.

Taking my break at a FlyJ in Rapid City SD. Finally cleared the last of the big mountains. First stop in St Louis will be easy...running ahead of schedule.

Took 212 off of I-90 in southeast MT as a "shortcut" to SD. Wanted to enjoy some back country scenery through the Cheyenne Nation. Passed by the Little Bighorn battlefield. Easy to imagine Custer getting his butt kicked.

He would have won that if his reinforcement showed up but his message did not get there.

Got load from Albuquerque, nm to Charleston, tn then got a load going home. And a load going out when home time ends.
