New Garmin Dezl 760

How can I get traffic well but no weather and no blue tooth connection?

 

Separate reciever for traffic traffic is built into the power cord

 

I tried the "weather and radar" via wifi with a Rand McNally and found it very flakey at best. I since changed to the Garmin 760 for it's built in traffic and other features I preferred over RM. I was of the opinion only Android phones could link to the Garmin. But for wx, I prefer smart phone apps anyway vs whatever the GPS might be able to present. I know radar on my smartphone is going to be current within 4-6 minutes from real-time, doubt I could say the same for Garmin or RM. I found radar to be 25 minutes old with the RM and that's unacceptable in my book.

REGARDING THE TRAFFIC that comes standard with the Garmin 760 ... don't trust it. In many areas, the traffic displayed on the Garmin is up to 45 minutes old. The HD upgrade helped this quite a bit though where an HD signal is available. If you want to verify this, download Goggle Maps App onto your smartphone and turn on traffic, and compare with what Garmin is saying and you'll see what I'm talking about. Google is right and current to the last 3 minutes, whereas the Garmin device is going on info that is at least a half hour old.

 

Inrix Traffic is a much better choice.

 

I've used it in the past but seemed to be the same performance and data that Google Maps App provides, but maybe 5 minutes behind Google, plus with Google I get Satellite view (GOOGLE images, not outdated crap that others offer), as well as outstanding business type search capability, all in 1, and it's free too.

Granted, the traffic that comes built in with the Garmin GPS is mostly crap, it (along with the HD upgrade) is nice to have working behind the scenes in case you forget to monitor the traffic at critical point, via inrix or Google, and it does catch something and "dings" to alert you.

 

With this update, the "Exit Services" feature is extremely slow to the point of being buggy and unusable.

 

Has anyone heard of, or know of a future model coming out. The current 760 followed closely behind the release date of RM's 720 when it came out couple years ago. I am definitely jumping ship from RM to a Garmin. They have new model out and have dropped all updates for maps and construction since they started working on their new 730.

 

Im waiting also. Most likely in the spring. The 760 is getting dated. Rm finally got a decent upgrade but maps n updates are iffy from them.

 

Noticed prices are starting to come in small amount on current Dezl models. Maybe this is a sign of new model coming out. Maybe by end of year or first of year. Looking forward to this.

 

I've had mine over a year now. Never had any problems tik here recently. Updated my maps as I've done before. Only now its not alerting me of scale houses. Anybody else have this prob?
