Do not go texas!!!

I'm in El Paso which is or is not part of Texas depending on the political climate.

 

Why are they suddenly crawling into the sleepers?

 

That happened in my 4 wheeler. I was pulled over in a snowstorm due to an obscured license plate. It was snowing. I mentioned to the officer that we're in a snowstorm and that his plates are also obscured. No points, no fine.

 

funny, I been to Texas numerous times and never once been inspected or had so much as an issue.

i usually notice the ones getting pulled over and inspected are the idiots that dont know how to drive or its obvious they didnt do a pre-trip inspection when starting their day (missing lights, mudflaps or other blatantly obvious violations).

 

I agree. I've lived in Texas all my life and ran trucks here for 9 years. I have trucks leaving Dallas/ Fort Worth every night going in every direction in and out of state. I've never once received a sleeper seatbelt fine. I've actually been able to pass all inspections in Texas with no problems. It comes down to running good equipment that is well maintained. Out here they're looking for the beat up trucks running through the state from Mexico. They don't have any reason to mess with reputable companies running good equipement.

 

Only twice in 13 years I've been stopped in Texas. Once for "my mudflaps riding too high" ( they weren't, he was making sure I was running anything bad) and once for my clearance lights being red on the tractor. Oh yeah, I got hit for 60 in a 50 in San Antonio when I didn't see the speed limit change. Other than that, no issues running in Texas. Texas is pretty friendly to drive in.

 

A girl I was banging..I mean dating got stopped for speeding and also got wrote up license plate frame supplied by the Pontiac dealer she got her car. Said you couldn't tell it was a Texas plate. Judge tossed that one out laughing, said any fool can spot a Texas plate.

 

I'm not going to Texas!!! I don't want ebola!!! My kids are on their own!!

 

Was this before your friend called him a stupid pig or after? Been on the road too long not to believe there is more to the story.

 

The truth is that a LEO can write someone up for anything they see fit whether it seems legit or not. If you fight it and win, it doesnt make any difference to the cop. Their job is to issue citations based on their knowledge of the law. The judge decides if its a valid cause if you take it to court. You would hope that most officers are practical in their judgement, but not every LEO actually is.
