E logs have nothing to do with the average speed... the driver and governed / un governed speed determines that.. leaving paper logs out of the picture.. caps on income per truck are there

There is something that gets hooked inline with the speedometer cable that makes it work. When I was leased to a company they were switching over to babysitters and one guy thought he was safe since he had an old mechanical engine. Wrong!rogueunh Thanks this.

If you drive local do you still log on duty not driving, If so can you edit it?
-
I'm gonna say that if you arent required to log, you will be exempt from ELOGs... I'm just guessing tho...
Edit: Oh ok... I see what your saying. If OTR guys need to run local one day etc.. ok sorry. -
I'am actually a Owner/Operator, own authority and other trucks. If your leased on to a large carrier, you won't ever understand all theunattended consequences that the E-Log mandate is going to bring.
Your whole business is dispatched like a company driver, with appointments that are set up totally different then a lot of freight out there. You have to be in the industry for along time to understand how it really works.
The real provlem has never been log books, it's been hold ups at shippers and receivers. Call it cheating, fudgeing your log, or whatever you want, it was flexibility. And now without it there will be so many problems coming that are going to cost us all.
You have to open your mind up more then the 4 years of lease operation. There's a much bigger picture out here then you have ever seen.
People will leave the industry. Good, safe, and experience drivers. That will be replaced by not very good, untrained, inexperienced drivers. This should make the roads safer, right? No!! It will not!
When the mandate comes, I will over come and adapted like every other over regulations we have had, but this one is a game changer, one that will hurt Americans more then they know.Derailed, Joetro, gokiddogo and 1 other person Thank this. -
Correct or I'm one of the lone local guys and everybody else is otr.
-
There you go trying to use common sense in this issue. THERE IS NONE involved with on board recorders.Pool6710 Thanks this.

I would GUESS that an O/O who owns and operates the truck PRIOR to the legislation might be grandfathered... Maybe. There are grandfather rules to most legislation.
-
Just wait until it appeals itself if americans vote the donkey out of DC. It will hurt all of us and the industry. It's bullcrap that the fmsa and the government won't read our concerns. We didn't demand for elogs. being stuck on the road during snow storm with elogs make you safe?
-
Boy, aren't you being an optimist, lol!
I'd guess it will be grandfathered in until ________ date.
