Thoughts on KW T660 with 86" Studio pulling a 53" step?

    Just an update.

    Insurance wanted to total the truck. They offered me $12k!?!? They called back and my wife answered the phone. She hung up on the guy. He called back and said I think we got disconnected. She said no,.. I hung up on you. Click.

    I found a good ole boy in Baton Rouge to fix my truck. He's the manager of Baton Rouge Truck Center. $6300 was his rough estimate. I told him to go ahead, paid the wrecker company and had them transport it. Hopefully they can get it done for under $10k. I've got too much money already invested in the truck to just give it up for $12k. I had just got to to where I was averaging 5.5 - 6 mpg. Progressive Commercial insurance is a joke. Cheap rates,.. but then I guess you get what you pay for. I'll be calling around for a better company.

    The guy I'm leased on with had a driver quit on him. He's flying me out either Tues or Weds to run his glider for a couple weeks till my truck is done. I wont know how to act. Its a 2012 Coronado, 12.7@500hp, APU and top of the line everything, pulling either an RGN or another 53' step like mine. Not sure which trailer he has on it right now. So I'm jumping back in the saddle.

    One heck of a learning experience for me. You never realize how humble you can be until you are faced with life altering events.

    Thanks for all the kind words. I will take what I have learned to become a much better driver.

    I'm trying to stay at or under 32k empty weight. My set up now is 34.4k and often its a struggle to watch what and how I get loaded.

    I'm leaning toward Doonan, but most likely it will be an all aluminum set up. Either that or 50' step. I like the room I have with the 53' step I have now. But I think I could manage with a 50 or 51' trailer as well. Soon as I get back out on the road I'll make some stops to look at and talk with them in person.

    Best of luck to you Hurst. Sounds like you really took it all to heart. As long as you think you're ready, hit the road and get back into it. No one can tell you you're ready but you.

    Well it's now almost turkey day am very interested in what you have decided to purchase and how you feel being back in the saddle so to speak I'm also looking to purchase in the next year I had a pretty bad wreck in the snow storm last year quit driving for six months just came back out last month firgured id run a company truck for a year and see if I can still cut the mustard ain't gonna lie not looking forward to winter and riding in the first snow fall

    My wife spent the summer with me. Decided trucking wasnt for her.

    So with that,.. I no longer need a large sleeper.

    I'm going to look at a 2003 Pete 379EXHD this weekend.

    6NZ C15
    13 spd
    3.55 rears
    63" sleeper

    I'm not in a rush to buy anything. I'd really like to have a 379,.. but its not set in stone.

    I'm not crazy about driving in the snow anymore either. I think this might be my last winter. I want to sit out next winter.

    I know your looking toward 379 but seen this seems like a good truck cant beat the 3406b recent inframe and all just thought i would share with ya
