I want to pay it and put it past, just don't want it to hurt me in the meantime. And the court there won't let anyone ask for an extension over the phone.

Something else to think about -not only could they suspend your license, but since you didn't take care of it before the deadline (I'm assuming the deadline is also the court appearance date), it's possible you could end up with an arrest warrant for 'Failure to Appear(in court)'. THAT could screw up your day very nicely..... Just find the cash and pay the ticket....

Drivers don't get CSA points. Only companies do.

And why are you opening your mouth you haven't read all the comments to see if that information was already provided? Hint - check comment #8 on page 1.

That doesn't answer the question. Those who habitually buckle-up pretty rarely forget because they do it without thinking about it.

Exactly!!!! I never wore a seat belt until my son was old enough to ask why he had to wear one.

As far as I know, my understanding is, that any court can suspend your licence (I dont know of any court that can not suspend your licence). If you are given a ticket, you sign that ticket saying you will appear in court on your assigned court date noted on the summons (ticket). If you fail to show up in court on that day, they can & probably will, issue a bench warrant for Failure To Appear. At that time, they can & probably will, suspend your licence. Now, when that licence is suspended, its is suspended... period. Its suspended in IN, WI, HI, AK, NJ, FL, NM & every other state in the union. They suspend your licence because the offence is a traffic violation against your privilege to drive. Therefore they suspend that privilege. So, the next time you pull into a weigh station & they want to check your licence, just get ready for the handcuffs, cause your driving with a suspended licence & there will a bench warrant showing for your arrest for Failure To Appear. At that time, you will be transported to jail where you will have to post a bond to be released, again insuring that you will show up for yet a 2nd court date. They could tow the vehicle to an impound lot. I probably dont need to go into that for you, but you see where this is going. JMHO, go take care of the situation on or before your court date.

I agree with everything Grumpy said except for arrest. It's a bench warrant and they would have to extradite you which nobody will pay for. Chances are you will be written up on the spot for driving without a license and ordered to appear in the scales local court also. Your truck will be put out of service for 34 hours. During that time anyone that has a valid CDL can drive it away with you in the passenger seat. After the 34 hours your truck will be towed to an impound lot.

My best friend is a DOT cop. He put someone out of service at a toll booth in NH. The guy was pulled over for something unrelated and found his license had expired. My friend truly believed the guy made a mistake. My friend knew I was home and called me. I drove to the toll booth and drove his 13 speed truck (Grinding the piss out of it) to a truck stop 3 miles away.

My buddy is trucker friendly. No ticket and not officially put out of service so nothing on his record.
