    Elogs serve 2 great purposes in my opinion.

    1 takes the guess work out of my time management, and enables that retarded excuse of a LEO to understand my logs with far less of a chance of screwing it up.

    2 its causing all you whiney ##### to gtfo of driving, thats going to leave a greater demand for qualified experienced drivers and will put most of us in a better position to pick qnd choose from those that offer more pay and benefits.


    So I say, bring that bad boy on captain! Get these old farts a reason to gtfo

    I am one of those old farts you refer to, and you are one of those that can not grasp the principal behind the on board recorders. Maybe one day you will get enough smarts to wake up, then maybe not

    Just made it work with paper logs. Can do 700 miles on the flat lands with paper logs legally in 11 hours. We were told to log 60 mph. It was mainly a dummy proof guide. Sometimes we went over and got a write up about it. With e logs it's legit. There's really no sense in cheating these days since we get paid good.

    Whats the #### difference? You guys complain when the govt wants to mandate elogs and eobr but youll gladly allow them to violate yours and everyone elses rights with their #### check points?

    I am not too worried. One thing about adversity, it brings out the creativity in folks. Just as in the past, the entire way of doing things will adjust to meet the new regulatory climate. We heard it all before, that all the regulation and such will destroy the economy. Well, it has caused slight bumps, but creative folks who make it a point to understand the logistics landscape have found ways to make it all work. They will again. It is amazing the efficiencies we take for granted now that came about to solve some logistics problem in the past. This e-log thing, and the associated speed limiter thing, will be no different. It will be a hassle, for sure. Some operations will go by the wayside. But in the final analysis, the outfit that can get the job done, and do it at the lowest cost, will make out like bandits.

    The largest percentage of stuff that has caused any real inflation and lowered standard of living for some folks has come about more from fiddling with the value of the dollar and not the availability of products and low cost. Regulatory climate has had only a minor part in any rises in cost of living. Inflation is just the change in the value of the dollar, not he price of the goods. A one ounce gold coin, in 1900, would buy a custom hand made men's dress suit and a night on the town. One ounce of gold today will do the very same thing. Only the dollar has changed.

    The regulatory climate for petroleum and refining makes the stuff coming at us in trucking seem like child's play. But creative minds went to work and even under this petroleum industry regulatory nightmare, we are experiencing some of the lowest fuel prices in years. And a lot of the minds that found ways to get around the problems were not with the mega petroleum outfits, but mostly the smaller scale petroleum folks. But the big boys learned quickly and adopted what worked and dumped what didn't. Trucking has a lot to learn in this... adopt what works and dump what doesn't. Smokey and Bandit was a fun movie, but Jerry Reed is dead. Sorry. Trucking is not going to be like it was in the 70's again. Get over it. Time to focus on solutions instead of crying in our beer. Open up to new ideas and new ways of doing things. That has been the biggest problem a lot of truck owners can't deal with... change. But those that learn how to change and make it work for them will survive just fine. No one said it will be easy, but success usually is never handed to someone on a silver platter.

    Yep, it will leave a greater demand for qualified experienced drivers. Too bad, that, in those groups, there are too few that are qualified and none that are experienced coming into the industry. If we veteran old farts go away, who's going to teach you? Another inexperienced dimwit? Good luck. Attitudes like yours are why I shy away from new drivers.

    Attitudes like yours are one reason why we're lacking so many qualified drivers. We're tired of you and your holier than thou ########, we are just looking for some god #### respect, and sadly you automatically assume a new driver is an idiot and can't drive worth a ####. You automatically #### on is because we've not "paid our dues". Your ######## because we're willing to change with the times and accept things as they come. Well driver I ask you this, when does that respect show up? Because I've seen plenty of old drivers that can't drive worth a ####, but they still stay in the game.

    And did you really think your opinion would matter to anyone? With less than a year of experience, chances are the "old farts" you mentioned will be out here a long time after you're back working at Burger King!

    that's that ######## I'm talking about. I've been far more successful to work at burger King. I come from a trucking family, so I know what it takes to be a success in trucking. I'm very humbled in my new profession, however in disgusted with the current attitude in that profession towards the new guys. Treated like #### all because I've been driving less than a year. Big ####### #### deal. I can find any nunnery of drivers with 20 years driving that are ####### morons.
