Patty, while I agree with most of your post, I have to strongly argue with what I highlighted there. Do you honestly think that a cop becomes "fearless" when he puts on the uniform? I can tell you that if he does, I sure as hell wouldn't want to work with him, because he is gonna get himself and other officers killed.

Now I wasn't there, I don't know what happened, and I honestly do not have an opinion one way or the other on what started this mess. But I can tell you that as a cop, I was frightened many times. Many many times. It didn't keep me from doing my job, it didn't cause me to panic, but it sure as hell wasn't fun either.

Cops are just people. They have likes and dislikes, problems at home, with their supervisors and fellow workers. They have prejudices, fears, hates and loves, just like everyone else. This crap of cops being "ABOVE AND BEYOND" "normal" people is just that, crap. And they sure as hell are not above and beyond reproach. They make mistakes, just like anybody else. Unfortunately their mistakes can cost people's lives. It is something a good cop never forgets.

    ^^^^^^ this ^^^^*^^

the bad cops are making the headlines. The cops that are shooting first are not good cops. These are usually rare occurrences. But they've been becoming anything but rare this year. And that's why I support the protesters. Not the rioters. The protesters have a valid point they are making. Too many.

How unfailr our justice system is.Tired of we the little ppl get convicted before trial when if a person of the law does something they get away with it.Law needs to be fair and work for EVERYONE not just a selected few.People are fed up, tired and very angry.Unfortunately it took a dead man for everyone to finally come together.I hope no one caves until laws are changed.

Patty, there is absolutely nothing new here. I remember the riots of the sixties and seventies. As for our "Justice System," that is a total and complete mis-naming of it. It is NOT and never has been a "JUSTICE System." It is a "LEGAL System."

Every country has a legal system. And most of them are worse than ours. But that sure as hell doesn't make ours "GOOD." Better than average, maybe-maybe not. But it is what we have to work with.

OOOOOPPPPPS, I was about to go off into a political tirade here. AIN'T GONNA DO IT!:biggrin_25513:

So, the protests are because of unfairness in the law? They have nothing to do with the fact that a thug got his just deserts for being thuggish and stupid? If what is being said is true (and three black jurors seemed to think so, too) and Brown attacked the cop in his car and was going for his gun, and then charged at the cop, he was unfairly dealt with? I guess the video of Brown strong-arming the store owner has no bearing on things, either, then and Brown was just a cute little kid with headphones that got gunned down just because he was black.

I don't know what happened either that's why im hoping soon every cop will be required to wear a camera will be one of the laws.As an officer im sure you had other means of things to stop someone from coming at you didn't you?Wilson did not have to shoot Mr Brown.Could have got him with tear gas.The kid was unarmed.

In this instance, he attacked the officer. Could he have used other means? Maybe. You weren't there just as I wasn't there.
