Nope, mine had a cracked head, which amazingly is not a problem the 6.0 is known for. I just happened to get a lemon. It was supposed to have the head gasket done by somebody else before I bought it, and I suspect their shoddy work could have caused the cracked head. You gotta be able to trust the mechanic...
Also I forgot to mention my Dad has an 05 6.0 with about 120,000 miles. Totally stock and never blew anything. He drives it like an old man though.![]()

One more thing - you gotta have a tuner on a 6.0!! The factory tunes are really bad. At some point after they first released the engine, they reflashed every truck that came back to a dealer to prevent some problems. In doing this they stole about 25 horsepower and 2mpg. Also turbo lag is really bad. Tuners make a night and day difference and easily pay for themselves in fuel mileage. Don't try to make a bunch of horsepower before you replace the head gaskets.
truck_dwival Thanks this. -
I'LL AGREE on the MPG. I had idle problem and took it to dealer. Said they reflashed it and I swear lost 2 mpg towing. Then when they changed the diesel (sulfer) lost another 1 mpg. I did put 205,000 mi. and only 1 injecter and fuel pressure sender. Have a 2014 and LOVE IT.

I ended up going with a 04 gasser just didn't feel comfy with a 6.0, there is only so much I can fix in the driveway by myself.

Update: My buddy just lost his turbo. Still less than 100k on his Cummins, just as many problems as my Powerstroke. Why did he spend twice as much on that thing? I don't get it...Tall Mike, CMFofNC, Foxcover and 1 other person Thank this.
