Do hazmat loads tend to pay better than regular freight? I would think they should just by the risk involved and extra endorsement needed and extra rules....

from what i've seen not really. I was upset i dropped my hazmat at first but its not beneficial to have considering the extra hassle and the lack of noticeable extra pay

Really all hazmat is good for is maybe getting you out of an area.
In other words it may be the only load in a search radius that can get you moving.
All of the hazmat loads I've seen aren't worth moving.

dunno.....I guess sometimes, but we don't get paid any kind of premium to haul it.....but, if you're endorsed and the next guy ain't, well, happy for you. You get the trip!!

I just dropped my hazmat endorsement because it just isn't worth it. If I was running bulk obviously it's a must. But for van the loads don't even pay that great, plus any time you are placarded it is screaming "give me a level 1 inspection Mr. DOT guy".

That's why I dropped mine I figured I wouldn't be hauling enough hazmat to justify the cost of getting it again.

Been quiet around ttr this week.. guess everyone is busy. Welp I'm up in wilton tonight no load outta here I'm hoping something good pops up tomorrow so I can finish the week off a tad better. If not I'll sit til Tuesday and reset. Pretty cold here tonight frosty 10 degrees I blowing fuel out the stacks all night I refuse to shut er down. That 30 dollars in fuel will be well worth it.
I been using my bunk heater so much I tried to use the trucks bunk heat and it didn't work. I couldn't figure out why until I got under the bunk and it seemed someone just failed to finish assembling the hvac piping so I dug in and finished the puzzle burned my knuckle on a heating element but it's nice and toasty in here now. Stay safe and warm out there! Catch ya on the interstate!

Hey guys, would like your thoughts on this. Especially comments from the choice guys. I know everyone has their way of doing things, but seems like some newbees are struggling. I read all the comments about choose this or that. But looks like if some of them made it a little more simple, and were not as choosey about loads, they could make money. Here is a scenario, and please choice guys respond with your opinion, good or bad. Start out mon morning at shipper with a 350 mile ld, take 3 hrs to ld. Drive 7 hrs, at avg of 57 mph, and would include ur 30 minute break. Unload takes 3 hrs. Head toward next pu, stoping to take ur break etc. Repeat this as close as possible m-s, do a reset sat nite-sun morn. u have put roughly 8 hrs on ur hos. 350 miles x 1.50 at 2450 miles for the week is 3675. Add xtra 300 miles for dh as so figure fuel at 2750 miles x 6.5 loaded hvy, so that is 423 gals fuel, x 3.50 is 1480 in fuel. seems like most truck pymts counting all insur, maint, etc, is arnd 1100. so that leaves you 1100 net after all fuel and pymts. I know some of you guys that have done it awhile are making a lot more, but seems like the newbees could start out around a plan like this and get going good til they learn the program. What do you see wrong with this scenario. 3675 - 1100 and 1480 leaves aprx 1100 net.
