Is trucking for me?

A lot of cranky old men here who have a big attitude problem. You're obviously not wrapping your head around the situation, and nobody can answer the simplest question: Why go unloaded? Can anybody give me a legitimate reason? Just because I asked a question does not mean I am not allowed any input.

I'm not stupid, I can use a calculator. As a the big cahuna expert here, why don't you post some numbers? How come I'm the only one that can back up my story with some real math?

If anybody can show me how a class 8 truck can be cheaper to run per mile than a one ton of 1/3 the cost I would LOVE to see it!! Even if insurance cost the same, everything else cost more in a big rig!!

You obviously cannot read. I was not talking about the DOT, I was talking about my own health, which I am not going to discuss with you. I can pass a DOT physical just fine.

Your experience says a class 8 truck cost less per mile than a one ton and you cannot deliver a camper with the vehicle it was designed to be towed with? Do you have any numbers to back that up? You have yet to post anything that backs up your story. The new one ton Rams have towing capacity of 30k lbs. If you take a look at ANY RV transport company they are looking for one ton trucks for single trailer driveaways. People do not use class 8 trucks to pull a single camper for profit! You have never done that either!

Just because nobody in this particular thread has experience doing this exact thing does not mean you aren't full of poop.

That is exactly what you are doing! You have yet to back up anything you have said! Your numbers do not compute!

How many of you here arguing have ever used a 3/4 or one ton to deliver single RVs for profit (or loss)? Anybody? You don't have experience in what you are trying to give advice in. This is just like the Ford 6.0 thread a few posts down where everybody who never drove one blindly bashed it and made themselves look stupid. Just because you drove a truck for a while does not make you an expert at everything. Nobody here has used a class 8 truck to deliver single RVs.

It's funny, the friend I talked to about this, is making plenty of money doing exactly this in my area and nothing else with an old one ton Dodge. He makes good profit, and he doesn't even count the free trip across country as profit! But he must be running drugs on the side right? *sigh*

PS - Campers need shipping from Oregon (Pendleton) east and from Indiana west. That works out perfectly for me.
