On the hook for 2 years at a company/working pace you may hate, Yeah don't ever get trapped for employment,
Saying this as a Employee of ABF. I really like this company, Would i sign a contract as a noob. No Focking way. Get some experience or never look at as being trapped and retire from ABF.

Worst case scenario, Owe some money, Resign with a CDL and have ABF for experience. Still isn't bad, just don't expect to get re-hired after quitting 10 mega fleets. :biggrin_2559:

They are very similar. They are both under the NMFA teamster contract plan. Both good places to work. Although YRC the pension is shot, and you have a 15%giveback to the company till 2019. ABF pays better and has full pension. But ABF is harder to get on with

yes shaggy that's why I turned the ABF job down a few years ago when they wanted me to do that. Went to YRC instead and go experience through them. But as you know Im off to something better (in my opinion) in 2 weeks

I tried recently getting on ABF with no luck... Not sure what the deal is according to the website it says they are still hiring in Chicago area for P&D and road drivers... I thought I would be qualified with a good work history, no acciidents, or tickets in 6 years driving? Oh well

I got a local job thats Union Teamsters but not in freight... Im really liking not being on the Freight side of trucking

To the OP why not try some other companies? In Chicago area all local gigs need drivers... I had countless job offers from freight to hauling fuel to hauling hazmat tankers to dump work...

The first two weeks of filling out applications I didnt hear anything from any jobs and them BAM all at once my phone wouldnt stop ringing...

Fedex app is still "under consideration." Would I get a rejection letter or would this get updated if I still wasn't "in the race" for the job?

I'm not sure about the rejection letter but I figure if your application is still under consideration. I don't know but it's not a "sorry we chose another applicant for the position" response.

    moloko Thanks this.

It didn't seem like a very good work environment in retrospect. I've just been desperate to get away from my current employer.
