Midget, you may want to grab a seat in a Volvo, my wife is 5'4", and she had no problem behind the wheel of it (for a short test drive, at least):D .

Actually I liked the older pete dash than the new one. My petes were 95 and older when I owned them so mabey it's just what I was used to but I like the three panel real wood dashes I had.

Although I actually like the corvete style dash from the 359 petes best. I'v been looking at buying a 359 to restore and play with. that or a needle nose

Pete or The Frieghtliner, I would take the FrieghtLiner. I drove FLD, Classic, and A Pete (Which one I do not know) along with a Volvo, KW, and a Autocar. The Classic I Drove seem smoother that the Pete, Most did have the Detroit, but if your buying you can order the type of Engine you want if your ordering..

I always liked the Cummings or Cat over the Detroit. I heard one Drive explained it as He wanted the Detroit cause it's a Poor man's Engine. When it breaks, Parts are cheaper. But I did notice the detroit broke down more often....

Well that's my 1/2 cents worth...

I currently drive a 99 xl. It just turned a million miles last turn. The cab is still tight enough that you can't shut the doors with the window up. It does take a fourty acre field to turn around in , but you get used to it. mine has a 575 cat and a 18 sp top 2. still a good truck.I'm off to L.A. in the morning.:biggrin_25526:

I drive classic xl daycabs on a daily basis and have so for the last 3 years. They are very good trucks, very durable, these have the c12 cat motors and 10 speeds. very good fuel mileage. They do take a long ways to turn though. Also with the vent window frame in line with the mirror it is not that way on all of them. I drive a different one every night and I only come across the vent window frame being in the way maybe once every 2 weeks.

I currently drive a 99 XL with a 575 cat. your right it takes a 40 acre field to turn it. the dash iss freightliner all the way. I can't keep a speedo light in it. but it don't have a rattle in it,still can't shut the doors with the windows up,and its got over a million miles on it. Its got alot of miles left in the old girl. I know after time off ,when I go to the yard and turn the key, she's gonna start!! She'll get me from point ato b. Can't ask for more than that. good grief,it's a truck!!!! I don't need it to ride like a caddy. I don't need hot and cold running water(hot and cold running women might not be a bad idea!) but I need it to get me there first and formost. If it will do that, the rest of it I can live with.
