I was wondering in general how long does it take to receive payment once you bill your customer, shipper or recevior.
Do you state in your shipper packet payment terms, or does your shipper state when they make payments.
How long does it take for shipper's to pay?

30 days, You can try to state 14 but most companies are on 30 day systems due to bank loans etc.
6wheeler Thanks this. -
Offer a 2 per cent discount for 10 day pay, or simply factor the account for immediate payment.

Ask your customer/shipper. They are the ones that make the terms, it says so right there on the Rate confirmation or in the Broker packet. General is 30 days. Many pay in less time. Landstar, Mercer, ATS, These guys pay within 5 days. Usually with Email. Many brokers pay with emailed POD.
Some brokers will negotiate payment terms. I've had some tell me 30 days and I've gotten paid in 14.
Be nice and smile. Good luck -
30 days or less..many brokers I hauled for paid in less than 10 days with no deduction,
Federal Regualtions reguire shippers to pay in 7 days or less,,federal regulations require carriers to pay their leased trucks in 7 days or less..now if you in the contract you make between you and any one has different terms then they apply,,NEVER AGREE TO PAY OVER 30 DAYS,,NEVER WHY LET THEM RUN THEIR BUSINESS ON YOUR MONEY
