I like the open leg sweat pants. At a distance they look like uniform pants and are so comfortable. Got mine at Kmart for $10!

 

In this description, it almost sounds like you feel the need to use up 14 hours.

Unless I have on the clock loading/unloading time. It is rare I would use near all of my 14 hour clock. If I am eastbound and down, loaded up and trucking. Going any direction in fact, I would normally use well less than 12 hours for a 10 hour drive day, for example. One 30 min required break and then a few leg stretchers. Then there are split breaks but that gets too complicated for this discussion right now. Remember, you need a good plan on a place with sure available parking if you want to push your drive clock to near 11.

It is one thing I like about trucking, I have the freedom to work my time and clock as long as I complete the mission of on-time delivery.

Also, remember you can be on-duty, not driving past your 11 or 14 hour clock to fuel, do post trips, send in an empty call, etc. Many new drivers seem to forget that one for some reason and get in a panic that they will over run their clock and shut down early.

 

Gee, I was going to participate in the conversations this evening .....then you all started talking about lounge pants and lily-white chicken legs .....and girlfriends, sisters and mothers! ....

 

I haven't had the time to read the other thread about the request for an exemption by CR England and still need to do more research on it, but my first impression is the same as yours. I can see where this opens the door to so many undesirable issues and consequences. While I can understand the expediency of being able to earn a paycheck and the cost effectiveness for the company,(or companies because there will be others that ask for the same exemption), it is kind of putting the cart before the horse. We have talked many times about cdl mills and poor training and the fact that passing the test doesn't make you a driver. Until there are some standards for schools and training how can they even think of granting exemptions?

 

Now, Pete, I didn't say that you guys couldn't talk about all of those things, just that I wasn't gonna participate. Ya never know where conversations about lounge pants are going to end up and I'm a nice lady! ....I was just going to "listen" in!

And who says Panhandle doesn't have someone? or two? or three? As Queen it is not my job to find him his life partner ....it's my job to point out that he has always had the power to find her himself.(Kinda sounds like Glenda the good witch in the Wizard of OZ, uh?) He is adorable you know.....albeit a bit picky for his age!

I will admit that you are right, I haven't been as much fun here lately. The leg has me a bit crippled up right now and I think I am getting too old to keep up with teenage girls. I have a birthday coming up and Number One Daughter is threatening to buy me a walker! I will be telling Santa that she is not showing the proper respect to her royal mother and her Christmas gifts will reflect that lack on her part!

When I go to a me at house and have to wait and drop dead time is far away I just shut down and take my ten. This way I can run a full clock when it ready. I am different from passport I run overnight. Less traffic better miles per hour but not easy to get used to. This is why he calls me a vampire.

Can't trust mega companies with any exception, they NEVER look out for anyone but themselves. They could care less about what's good for us drivers just their bottom line.
