Although I'm pretty new as a trucker, I've found something that may help. Straight Talk Wireless has an unlimited yearly plan for $495. Yes it's on the T-Mobile network and the coverage isn't as good as Verizon in some areas around the country, but there is no contract. They also have a $130 three month plan and $255 six month plan. Now following some of the information on this thread I have found that if you have an android phone that is rooted, or uses an app that allows for hotspot on your phone, then you could use the unlimited side of the plan to stream movies and what ever. That doesn't mean they wouldn't throttle your service down the road, but it would renew every thirty days. So there are really three things at play here. 1. Cellular Service..to make phone calls and text messages. Pick the best coverage for the areas you will be driving in and that seems to be Verizon or AT&T. Another option to keep the bills down is to get the I phone 6, it allows for WiFi calling. When you get to the Pilot or another area with WiFi, you can make a phone call where you might not have coverage by your provider. 2. Data Service.. to stream movies and play games while you are a hobo in your cab. LOL That's where the Straight Talk comes in handy. 3. TV Service.. Obviously you can pop up an antennae and try the old way, but there are now satellite dishes that you can mount on the side of your truck. They run about a $500 and slide onto the drivers window. You still have to have Dish network service as an additional fee. Look at your finances and see what you can afford. Hope some of this info helps.
