The lawyer will probably just talk to the prosecutor and plead it down to 36 in a 30 zone. No points so I'll probably take that deal. Still kinda pisses me off that the cop gets a conviction by lying but ya hafta pick your battles I guess
I learned something today.....SPEEDING

This is a risk we take as people who drive 125k + miles each year. Eventually you're going to run into the cop who got reprimanded recently for not turning in enough tickets. Radar can work in many ways, coming or going. In fact it can clock an object long before the object's driver has had a chance to make out the offending cop car's location. I suspect he clocked you when you were coming into town and you were in fact going 50 but had not yet seen him ... or it could have been a save from an earlier vehicle, who knows. But this is part of the job and eventually every driver will find themselves dealing with a less-then-fair cop.
Hope you get it knocked down. -
The police can even use the car mirrors to aim the radar gun at your vehicle. Seen it done when I was chatting with my local officer. I was amazed it worked and surprised. He would shoot the people coming from behind using the mirror and then shoot them again when they passed. Same readings for speed.

I'd like to hear the outcome of this story as well. I think the whole thing is bs and think the cop was looking to give a ticket be it you or next prey that came down the road.

Lots of small town cops pull that. They're Navy Seal wannabe's but don't even have the IQ for a small town cop. I got one like that in White House, Tennessee; the idiot cop said he clocked me doing 50 in a 30 in my car. He didn't because I was doing exactly 30 since I knew exactly where he was hiding in a church parking lot. He's always either there or behind an electrical substation across the street. The judge asked him if he let me see the radar screen and he replied with a smirk, "No, it's not required by law that I show it to him, snicker...snicker." I lost my temper and called him a friggin' liar so the female judge threatened me and was yelling at me in court. Cost me $95.00 and didn't show on my MVR. It's all about the money and power over the working people.

Get a lawyer and pay him to make it go away. Thats what I do. You wont even have to show up in court.
I got nailed for speeding in my wife's car. 35 over,.. very bad. You would think I should know better right? Even the cop said I should be ashamed to have a CDL and be speeding like that.
We had just put a blower on her car and it was making a little over 500 rwhp at the time. I was just having some fun. It goes from 20 to 80 in the blink of an eye,.. you dont realize how quick the speed comes up with that much hp. I had just got on the interstate and nailed it,.. just hit 3rd gear and there he was. Doh.
$900 and lawyer made it go away. No points.

You got that right! Few things tork me more than dirty cops. They all took an oath to uphold the law, to serve and protect. Only thing worse is a politician, which goes without saying they are dirty to various degrees. We are living in a world that is quickly becoming all about "get the money, get the money, doesn't matter how honest or dishonest, just get the #### money!"rank Thanks this.

poster admits to speeding, but it is acceptable... 36 in a 30 is speeding...
The speed limit does NOT increase when you can see the sign, but at the sign... so if you begin speeding up to 50 before the sign, yes you were still in the 30 zone, and you were speeding at 45 in a 30...
Either obey the law, or pay the price.Lowa3468 Thanks this. -
I was told this when I was in training, "If a cop pulls in behind you, check your speed, lights (mirror check), and attitude. You're about to get pulled over."
I thought it was pretty good advise myself. -
"The little town was a 30 mph zone and I entered the zone at 36..."
