The more I think about it, the more I am liking the idea of trailering it. I think that would be the safest way to do it, get er home in one piece. Its 2500 miles 1 way, but if I haul a load down and LTL back then I might even make a few bucks while Im at it...

    Mr.X Thanks this.

You apparently never had a modulator valve go bad on an old chevy, the vacuum to the valve will suck the ATF right out of a transmission and slowly burn it in the engine. I still use ATF to clean older gummy engines that have gummed up inside, quart in a old car / truck motor with new oil and run it for 400-500 miles then change it again and you will be surprised how much gum it will soften and cut loose. Next time you get to tinkering on one the motors setting in your barn, grab some ATF and wash your hands with it. As said earlier we used it in the fuel tanks too, hard to do that anymore, good stuff.

Thats probably a real good idea! Sitting for 7 yrs everything rubber is probably hard and brittle, not to mention rust in a few places it don't belong.

We used to pickle an engine if it was gonna sit for a few yrs! fill it up with diesel pop the injectors out and roll it over gently to get all the air out...

I understand that, and I probably put it in the wrong words. But my rambling point was meant to be that ATF was a truckers friend, or use to be. The trucks I have personal OTR experience with are from a different time era, but well sought after too. Pretty sure you have some nice old iron tucked away, at least you did when I came up and got that 8V92.

The A model is done, I'm hoping to pull the engine out of my K100 soon to start freshening up for the up coming pulling season.
