I learned something today.....SPEEDING

when i first saw your post, i figured you were either brave or crazy

some folks here are either completely legal about everything in life, or two-faced liars who cant help pointing righteous fingers at others

you clearly laid out the facts, you came into town at 36, i do it all day, every day, we have been out here long enough and understand legal vs safe

well............some of us do

 

You nailed it. And what is funny about that is, you would think a bunch of truck drivers would know how speed limits are determined in the first place.

For those who don't, there are several factors, but PREVAILING speed is a leading factor in determining posted speed limits for a specific stretch of road. -- In other words, if traffic is consistently traveling at a higher then posted speed limit, usually the safe thing to do is to raise the speed limit. This is why traffic studies are suppose to be conducted regularly.

And I know in my State, if a traffic study has not been conducted in the last 5 years, that fact is a great defense when fighting a radar ticket in court.

It's wrong to just roll through life complying with every rule and regulation someone else wants to hold us to. We are the Professional drivers. As a whole, we help determine the speed limits more then some pencil pushing bureaucrat, or engineer by consistently traveling at a Safe speed, not just the legal speed.

So it's ridiculous to lecture a fellow driver about 6 over on a stretch of road when you don't have all the facts.
