Hello fellow HHer's and OS/OW specialty operators.

I am attaching a link that leads to an Exemption Request by the SC&RA (Specialty Carriers & Rigging. Association) to the FMCSA. This is the largest group of extreme movers in the world, and they are making a request that will help us all. They are requesting an exemption for ALL OS/OW permit loads (only while operating under permit) of the mandatory 30 minute break due to the unique nature of dealing with the countless rules and jurisdictions we face on a regular basis, and then trying to fit this inappropriate break into an already difficult schedule that we all must meet on a daily basis.

Please click on the link, and post a support comment to help get this request approved. Please be professional & respectful with your comments, these reflect directly on our small segment of the industry. This is our chance to shine proudly.

    Thank You all,

If anyone needed a 30 minute break, it would be heavy haulers. They have to be more stressed than a regular driver.

And trying to find a place to park for 30 minutes is going to alleviate that stress -- especially with burning daylight?

    Hmm,

Don't just make a comment, if you believe you actually have a valid point or argument, please post that for debate. A comment such as you have made shows no fundamental understanding of the situation presented, so please leave the Heavy Lifting to those that are qualified & have the experience to back it up. Pun intended.

You don't like what I wrote, so you attack me instead of my statement. I made a valid point.

No you did not make a valid point, you stated an opinion.
I challenged that opinion based on the lack of experience that your profile info shows. As well as the lack of understanding that your opinion conveys, supported by my experience which a simple search in the Big Loads Photos thread clearly shows that I have an ample amount of.
If you had taken the time to click on the link & read the extremely well worded proposal made by some vastly experienced professionals, you would have already been informed enough to understand the lack of knowledge in your opinion in the first place. That is not an attack on you personally, it is an attack on your lack of effort. If that hurts your feelings, you have the power to change the amount of effort you put into your future opinions.

I saw one taking a break on a left turn lane by a stop well used on a US hwy 2 lane, made for kind of a jam considering the light traffic, but all of the escorts and the 2 patrol cars took up lots of room. I didn't stop there, though I often do.

The rig, a wide axle with extra tires on each and with a push truck on the back. Traffic they met had to move off the travelled portion and stop to let them by. I saw them go by my destination 14 miles away about 45 minutes later.

I've never been a heavy hauler, but I submitted a comment. You guys are only allowed to drive during certain times of the day, so spending an hour or more hunting for a place to take your 30 minute cookie break is ridiculous. Hopefully you guys will get your exemption.
