Unless that hotel went down hill since I went through orientation, I didn't think it was that bad. I liked being right on the lake, but this time of year, maybe not so much. How did you get up there for orientation? They had me drive a truck from Duncan up to the Fort.

The hotel isn't that bad. I did read somewhere about the spider issue and only seen one in the few days I was there. All the roads were iced and covered in snow so I made sure the first night I went into the town Walmart which is just a few miles down the main road and got snacks and drinks that way I didn't have to go anywhere.
Communication could be better at the Duncan terminal, and after 5 pm its practically non existent. I was told since day one that the load would be ready by 8 pm and if there is any changes I would be notified. I know better than that so I call an hour before I head to the truck and IF someone answers the phone I usually find out that the load is running anywhere from an hour to six hours late. It can be very frustrating because it throws the day time driver off his start time and in turn throws me off for the next night, other than that they don't bother me, I just do my job and look forward to the weekend. -
Some advice for new hires, it takes a certain attitude to be successful here. I see guys go into orientation like the company owes them something and they don't last 6 months. If you don't complain, work hard and get in good with dispatch they will take care of you. I'm in a loaner truck for a couple days and was deleting messages the last driver sent in. Dispatch has a stressful job too and they don't have time to babysit people. I can go days without bothering them, sometimes weeks. They know if my truck is where it's supposed to be, if I'm going to be on time. New hires come in with a sense of entitlement and don't last long enough to figure out or see the benefits of how things really work here.
Runningman and I used to haul oversized loads on flatbeds in all weather conditions for different companies so perhaps we had a different attitude coming in to this job. Cheeseman is an easy job and there is money to be made, I'm having the best year I've ever had.runningman0661 Thanks this. -

I was not sure what to think about them. The recruiter seemed nice enough but could never give me a straight answer on dedicated or days off until I went through orientation. With 10 years plus and a perfect record I figured he could do better than that but kept hounding me with calls so finally I just gave up on them. A company that can't give a straight answer to a few simple questions just did not rub me right.
