    Hello,

    I'm new in this business and want to know your opinions. I leased on my truck to a carrier and he charges me 10% of the load he gets and right now he is driving the truck as well so he wants 50% of the net profit. I am paying for the insurance he has and of course for the trailer lease. Right now i am looking for a new driver to run my truck so I can make more money. I think he is taking advantage of my lack of experience.. What do you think?

    So correct me if I'm wrong, you own your truck, and have it leased on to a carrier, and are running for percentage. When you drive the truck, the carrier finds the loads, you run the load, you keep 90%, carrier gets 10%. But for some reason now he is driving your truck and wants 50% of what you are netting? Not quite sure I understand.

    It never ceases to amaze me the stupid deals people get into thinking owning a truck is a magic ticket to make a lot of money.

    The guy that has the authority dosen't have a truck of his own? Probably had it repoed and is going to milk this guy till it goes dry.

    You are correct, except that I never drive the truck. I dont have a license.. We just started this dela on 12/01/14 and he had told me to give him 2 or 3 weeks to get his own truck (I purchased the truck he was driving). Now he is pushing me to fina a driver when had promised he was going to help me to find a good one down the road.

    By the way he sold me a 2007 peterbilt 387 with 927.000 miles for 20K. Do you think it eas a good deal? The truck is is perfect condition. I took it to a mechanic and he said it was good..

    Would anyone go and do something stupid like this?
    Why don't you go and study the trucking industry first and learn and understand what you are getting into, then you wouldn't have to come on hear asking these kind of questions !!!

    The truck is is perfect condition. I took it to a mechanic and he said it was good.. :biggrin_2554: They guy you bought it from suggest the MECHANIC by any chance.

    Ok just checking . Right now on TRUCKPAPER there are (81) 2007 387's listed Prices range from $47,000.00 / 857, 000 miles to $21,000.00 / 1.3 Million miles and $19,000.00 / 800,000 miles so pricing is all over the place
