I had a Rand gps, they have alot of nice features, but I think that the problem with them is they are skimping on the processor. It is 19th century technology trying to run 21st century ideas. Mine would freeze up all the time, I finally had enough and beat the hell out of it, lit it on fire and said never again. Bought a Garmin and have been happy ever since.

I run a cheap car Garmin next to the truck specific Rand McNally. I also went with the smaller one the 520. From what I could gather people were replacing the slightly larger one more. I usually trip plan the old fashion way and have a good idea where I'm going. GPS is a guide to aide me along the way, not something to think for me. A good old fashion pre trip with your exits written down in order will always serve as a great backup. I do like the GPS lane guides. Seems like most highways don't put their signs far enough back.
One sign I'd really like, is when a right lane opens up, it should specify right there if it's for an exit only. I hate it when a right lane just opens up without an exit in sight. Then your left out in the middle getting passed on the right.KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this. -

For instance, let's say I want to find out how far it is to the next rest area. I click the curved arrow at the lower left and keep going till I find the information I want. Please tell me there's a way to go directly back to the map without having to back out through each step I took to get there? The RMN let me configure the power button to get there via a quick push. -

I find the Garmin to be more responsive. That rand touch screen can aggravate me.
