Amen to all that. Too many guys are running around and spending 100's of thousands of dollars on trucks they hate to save money on fuel so they can haul cheap frieght. It is mindboggling. I personally only spend five days in the truck at a time. But considering that is a 70 hour work week and all my free time during my work week it #### sure gonna be something im proud of. Plus I have a Peterbilt with a big sleeper for all the other reasons I have stated earlier in this thread. I get between 5 and 5.25 mpg. Guess what ? I consider that into my costs and charge my customers accordingly

Another company to look at for aviation freight is Aviation Express out of Citra, Fl. We are a small 40 truck outfit in central Florida. I haul for them and really enjoy it.

This is something the wife and I have been talking about for months. Not in the cards yet but maybe in a year or so. My 379 longhood has a 260" WB and a 70" sleeper now. Empty weight full of fuel (twin 140s), the wife and I and all our gear including the tools I carry is 34,680 with a 53' vanguard plate. How big could I go without any modifications to the truck. I'm thinking like 96"? How much weight would that add (approx.)? A couple feet more and set up the way we wanted would make a world of difference for us. Pulling a step or doing specialized OS or OD would be great but not in the cards for me anymore. I'm not starting out pulling flat at this point in my career and that's what I would have to do.
We live in our truck all but maybe 4 days a month and I'd just like to make it a bit more comfortable. I don't think I'd take too bad a hit in mpg and just did some performance upgrades that should get me around 6.5 now with all the power I need. I bought what I did for the power, reliability, and ride. No way in hell would I drive something I hated just to get another 1 or 2 a gallon and I don't plan on ever owning anything but this very truck.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
If you add 4 feet to the cab you can have shower, potty, onan gen and refrigerator. extra roof mount ac heat unit. Lots of living room to spare. Depends on how you set up the bed. down the side or in the rear. 4 feet is the width of the sheets of aluminum for the cab. Tell whom ever does the job to insualte the water tanks well, including the black water. I was going to have my Feightliner done it was going to run between $15,000 and $20 grand including paint and depending on how many changes you make to the original plans. Kiev in KY . does excellent work.
