I have to say I'm a current j b hunt employee I'm probably leaving. There were many things I was not happy about and they keep stacking up. The medical exam for starters. It's the single strictest exam I've ever taken and it seems to have a heavy dose of bs. They measured my neck and told me I have sleep apnea and probably diabeaties. It was 18" supposed to be 17" or less. They had me jog up stairs for 3 minutes lift weights cut bald spots in my hair had me strip naked for some lady to check me for a hernia. Then after all that they only gave me a 3 month certification. The last two certifications I have gotten have been 2 year. A personal doctor and a premployment at Werner. Now this all happened for a no touch freight job. Oh I also wanted to mention in order for them to give me another medical card they want me to go have a sleep study done which they will not pay for and the timing is suspiciously before my medical insurance becomes active. So I'll have to out of pocket that cost again this is because they measured my neck. Its about as scientific as feeling my forehead and telling me I should get tested for AIDS.
Speaking of no touch freight I was promised 75 percent drop and hook. As of the last two weeks I have done 10 loads that were at least live load or unload usually both. I just delivered a load that was 500 miles they gave me Friday and I wasn't allowed to deliver until Monday. So two full wasted days. Now I'm sitting with my 14hours ticking away waiting for a dispatch because 3 days I guess wasn't enough time to find me a follow up load.
Their equipment is not bad. Its all the cheep trucks internationals and freightliners. I have had good luck with internationals and they gave me one with only 80k miles on it. Decent enough truck no real complaints. But this people net system is a hunk of garbage. Its slower then any computer in 2014 has a right to be. Just changing lines on a macro takes sometimes up to 30 seconds. It just decides to restart most of the time when you start a macro, activate the GPS or change your duty status. Also welcome to the granny state of truck driving. Bendix wingman systems in every truck and you'll be governed to 62. If you don't know what the wingman system is here is a quick overview. It decides if your following too closely basically at highway speeds anything is under 1/8th of a mile it starts beeping. If you have cruise control set it will automatically start slowing you down before that point. I have had times I looked down and realized I had been doing 50 in a 70 for miles because someone I wasn't even close enough to to realize I was catching them, was going that slow. If it gets closer then that it will turn on your engine break closer still it will apply the breaks for you. Now mine is malfunctioning I've had 2 separate times with nobody directly in front of me where the system though a collision was eminent and slammed on my breaks even though I didn't have Cruise control set. Luckily it didn't cause an accident because when I mentioned this to my dispatcher they had no record of collision avoidance being activated. If it had been icy roads it was hard enough to jack knife the truck.
Now for the pay. Sign on bonus is good 5k but it will take you a year to collect. The promised 51 cents per mile but really its 48 the other 3 cents is for a production bonus if you get over 11,000 miles in a 28day period. I can assume I'm not going to make that from how they have been running me lately. Even though im working from thanksgiving until Christmas.
Basically. If you are looking to move on from a training company its still at least better then that. werner was even worse. really when it comes down to it you can probably find a better place to work. My uncle who had 30years driving exp worked for jbhunt for 3 days they assigned him a truck he sat for 3 days waiting to be dispatched then quit.

i am an x jb driver, gotta say i agree with all your observations, one thing you missed was paid miles vs actual miles driven, you get screwed there too, however in the big picture they were not as bad as some of the other big companies.................... i ran out of the atlanta terminal, good luck, Rich

nice on ebola guy.... Watch out for that lone ranger guy he will hate on JB and he is a recruiter for crete. I had to block him her or it, all they are trying to do is recruit.

And yes, JB was the worst company I ever worked for, trucking or other jobs. And I make sure to tell other drivers. Btw, I quit Crete years ago.buckeyetrucker1976 Thanks this. -

your right every company has that one guy, But he is like a bad illness once you get rid of it they come back. I have ran into them guys that say " JB is the worst" but when you ask anything they only say the same stuff never anything relating to their point of why its a bad company.. I work for an awesome company and until I get screwed over they will be one of the best. Every has their flaws.....not one is perfect.
RookieJ1987 and Ebola Guy Thank this.
