I would make as many deliveries as I can, and then park at the next Publix that I am delivering to. I used to do multi-stop window loads to places like Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, and oddball Mom & Pop hardware stores and lumber yards---it's not like you're free-loading a parking spot...you are there to do business the next day.

Thats exactly what I do...We run heavy LTL Miami every week as a company, rarely will you see any of our guys in truck stops we usually camp out at our customers.....Even when not delivering to a specific place they will let us park overnight if needed.
safer (most times)
quieter
doesn't smell like a urinal
no beggars
no lot lizardsVilhiem Thanks this. -
When I used to deliver to Menards, I'd park right in front of the delivery entrance. Receiving guy would wake me up when he opens the door.

Miami is no place to fool around and get lost. If at all possible, stay out of town at night, go in at day, deliver, and get out. I think Publix has a few spots to park, but do not stop on a side street. Last time I was there, broke into my truck 2 times.Receiver told me to park at a certain place next to his warehouse and he would come get me.I did. After I parked, they broke the lock on trailer, and got a few packages before I could drive away. When I stopped a few blocks later, another group tried to get in my cab as I went to rear of trailer to close the doors. It was all pre-arranged. Cop refused to write report, said I was lucky nothing bad happened. Another time I was lost, sitting in a lot looking at my map.Cop drove up, told me he did not care where I wanted to go, but for my safety I had better leave there and go anywhere else NOW.This was daylight..
I no longer journey into 'LITTLE CUBA" by choice.Last edited: Dec 15, 2014

Years ago, my Dad had a t-shirt that read "WILL THE LAST AMERICAN TO LEAVE MIAMI BRING THE FLAG WITH THEM"
My one trip to Miami, actually to deliver to Homestead, then take a cab to a hotel near Miami Int'l. The upside, the hotel was popular with Europeans coming for a cruise (spent the afternoon at the pool watching hot euro MILFs in ultra skimpy bikini's frolicking with their kids), the downside, rude staff, very expensive. -
Theres a casino across the street from a small truckstop down there that you can park at... I cant think of the name but maybe someone on here knows... Any place I have ever delivered or picked up at in Miami lets you park over night...

When did that area become part of Weston?. It was unincorporated Broward County back then, have been away far too long. I have been to that truck stop when I was in CDL school and it was just a dirt lot with a really run down shop. Although it didn't look like much I imagine it was remote enough to be relatively safe unless you were unlucky enough to be followed from a high dollar pick up by a stick up crew.
I have since been back to the jerk place a few years ago. Chicken was OK, nothing I would go out of my way for though.
