So if you are required to share a truck is it always the same truck? Are you able to leave your belongings in the truck between trips? Also, are most of your nights spent in the truck at a DC or store location or random truck stops? Thanks for the help.

Do the trucks have APU's, fridges, inverters?

Some trucks have fridges. All have apus. All have inverters.

Depending on the program you are on you may or may not leave your personal effects in the truck. I never understood why anyone would do that when they got out of it, what if someone uses it and it breaks down and you don't get back into it you next time in? If you're on the extra board, you're using other drivers trucks usually on a temporary basis. When I get out I take everything except cb, xm antennae. That's it. You can stay at any safe location unless specifically told by safety it's a no go. The D.C. usually has a list of stores you can break at and your trainer will help you to use the obc to find a place to sleep.

Just to add to drozzer's answer, I run out of a grocery DC - we have a GM DC about 30 miles from us. The way we work is our 1st load of the week is always a grocery load - then after that, you're just another Walmart truck in the system. I've had weeks where I would pull my 1st load and never got back to my DC until it was go home day, pulling all GM loads for the week. I've had weeks where I pulled a couple of grocery loads, then all GM loads. It really depends on the needs of the company - the GM guys come down and pull our loads also. You could get a backhaul load to another DC then run loads out of there - there isn't a set way to do things - which in a way is a good thing - at least for me - it keeps things mixed up and you don't get in a rut. As far as pay goes, there isn't a difference, as far as I know, if you are domiciled at a grocery DC or GM DC. The start times are the same, the work schedules are the same. At my DC, we haul the dry goods, we have Swift that does the frozen/dairy runs. I don't know how Lewiston works, just trying to give some general information.

Good info noninetofive. My husband starts with a GM load, of course. If he heads to Tucson, or even Mesa, they will get him back to Casa Grand for dry groceries. He has only pulled a reefer 3 times in 2 years.

In Casa Grand, CR England does the reefer work.

Hey Mike! I was thinking about you when I was recently visiting my brother in Florida who lives close to the GM DC in Brooksville. Hope you are doing well these days. :)
