Yeah, I was curious about the predator 10ks but never bought one. I'm just using a truck stop special coil antenna. Nothing fancy but the coil itself rattles under accelerator, wind and just a out any excuse it can get.. So I want to junk this think asap.
I guess ill got with a firestik or a francis then, since my people swear by those antennas. I'll just grab a tunable 4 foot and call it a day or I might get one of the k40 or wilsons.. Guess ill see when I get to a truck stop.

IMHO if you spent the money on a genreal lee (not cheap) why put cheap antennas on it???? AFAIK the antenna is a good chunk of the transmit/recieve power. go and get yourself a monekymade. about 150 bucks WELL worth it, and GOOD coax

I just traded my stock cobra 29 for the general. One of our local guys is getting out and letting stuff go he doesn't need. He gave me the k40 coil antenna he had mated to it yesterday.. So I will hook it up Monday and it should make a difference. The stinger on that k40 is very rigid and hardly has any give at all. So I think this antenna will work. If not, he said he had a Wilson 2000 I could have as well, if the k40 coil doesn't work.

What you are seeing is normal, sir and you should not get to overworked about it. I run two full length Preditors straight up at a heigth of about 13 foot 9 inches. I have these mounted on a flat plate across the top mirror supports and only about 8 inches from the cab. I run lots of county roads going to oil/gas well locations. Had them on for quite some time and still there. Yes they bounce on a few things but actually that close in towards the cab not very many. I truly have a long-distance radio with no swr problems and yes they will move up and down when traveling. No concern. The stinger on the preditors also are just a little bit bigger diameter than some of the cheaper ones so they stand up to the wind better.
