Same here I'm home daily and love it. The planner for my area is outstanding, I'm satisfied with the money. I would not trade this job for anything. Though I would not do intermodel in LA. But then again I would never live there. EVER.

Edit part-I'm not GLR/Costco just local rails

I've heard it said that New Jersey has the worst drivers in the country. So far, I haven't found any other place that would invalidate that statement.

Unfortunately, I'm on a dedicated run that takes me to Asbury Park pretty much every day...

i feel you, been sick since last Thursday and every time I think im feeling better then bam the horrible sore throat etc comes back full force. I have to drink hot liquids for a few minutes like coffee or tea just to get my throat to allow me to swallow food. The bright side of being sick is that it made it easier for me to lose a few extra pounds this past week and im finally below the weight I was back in 2008.

Parked at the desert oasis rest area off the 40 before Barstow, spent over a hour at Sterilite for them to figure out that the load that I was picking up never was loaded since they did not have a mt, after a few phone calls I ended up grabbing on of the loads they DID have ready.

    At home in Houston.

Finished my load to a Laredo broker. Was supposed to be a drop but the broker wanted to live unload. They offered me a terrific MexTex breakfast while I waited and it was pretty good. They finished the trailer in 25 minutes and I rolled back to the terminal. Coolest brokers I ever dealt with down there!!

Picked up a preload at the terminal to Tcall in Houston. During the drive up I was sent a ppln to deliver a tcall from the yard locally on Monday morning. Did my mac1/2 upon arrival and let it sit until Monday. Normally I wouldn't have been given a load with that much time but I don't care at this time. I don't need the money and I get the weekend at the house then start my hometime after delivery. Won't go back out till next Saturday or Sunday.

After turning down a chance to help at a Walmart dedicated (been there, done, that, no thanks) I was sent a pplan that picks up today (12/20) at 1600 and delivers on the 22nd by 0800.
Live load and drop at Miller Coors in VA.
That was backed up by a load picking up there at Miller by the 21st and delivering in Denver, CO but had no delivery appt. yet.
Just under 1,000 miles for the first and 1,600 for the second.

My next home time is set for Denver on 1/1/15.

I'll just have to wait and see if they still want me to do the load.
I got a message that updated the pu and del of that load. PU by 12/22 1430 and del by 12/23 0200. !!
Someone must think I have a rocket powered truck, or perhaps a bunch of reindeer I can hook up with.

I'm also running recap hours and a couple days have only 6-7 hours coming in, so I won't be getting to Denver in record time.

Miles were easy this week. 2k mile load to a Ohio t-call, then a 900 mile run to OKC with a pre planned t-call, then two 300 milers out and back. Now relaxing for 34 and hopefully this trend continues. After spending weeks in the north west I'm loving above freezing temps.

Doing our 10 here tonight on our way back from buffalo, NY. Second day with my new student and he is doing pretty good. A few things that he needs work with, but this should be an easy training period for me.

As soon as the inspector gets in to the shop in the morning I'm going to get a 90 day done then scoot on down to the DC for our next load. Don't know where we are heading yet.

I don't want to hear it. Some weeks I practically live in Chicago. But honestly I'd prefer Chicago over some of our PA stores, homestead for example is one of my least favorite places to drive into in the middle of the day.

I can only imagine riding around there in a truck as long as blsqueaks'.

    I-59 near the Georgia/Abalama border.

    Not a bad day.
I get to my 'live load' and was told I was at the wrong location, that I was to pick up at 'the mill', and I was given directions and an address as well as the pre-loaded trailer number.
I get there (the company had a name change a couple years ago, and it was never updated with Swift - par for the course), slide my tandems and open the doors for the inspection.
The guy tells me to drop the mt right there and go park by the fence, the trailer would be brought out to me.
Sweet. The yard dogs do all the leg work for us.
After several minutes on hold to get my loaded call fixed (wrong location...) I hit the road.
Just under 30k so no scaling needed, and the hills have been pretty mild.

Adjusting from day shift to night time is hard for me. I stayed up and slept as late as I could today to try and make it easier.
Still, I had a couple hours left on my 11/14 when I shut down. I got far enough to on the ~1000 mile run to make it easily during my next shift - 533 miles to go.

I've got to do it again because I need to wait long enough for the final leg so I don't get there too early to find parking.
I pick up my next load where I drop this one, then I'll have around 1 hour left to drive. I'm trying to work it so I'm parking as others are leaving.

Hopefully during my next load I can adjust my times back to daytime driving.
