Port of LA to ban owner-operators by 2013

I don't see how this is legal or constitutional. It is possible to enforce that all o/o's have the proper credentials. What's going on in LA? Are there a bunch of renegade, cowboy O/O's running around the port?

 

my old boss knew of a guy who would cross the border and buy a $3000 truck and run outta the LA port untill he got deported then do it all over again

 

I heard about this on XM's OOIDA broadcast a month or two back. Was somewhat surprised (for an instant) that the Teamsters were behind this program, supporting it. I guess its a huge thing for them because heck, if they can get rid of all the Owner Ops...that means more money for their drivers.

 

It seems to me that this violates just about every antitrust regulation that exists in US law today. It'll be interesting to see what the feds have to say about this.

yeah thats the truth for just about everything

 

just like a lot of laws on the books they will turn their heads and act like the laws don't exist

the main problem in this country today is that majority rule does not exist anymore, Its the special interests that now rule our country.

as an example we are all acutely aware of is the energy problems we are now facing, it is proven that we have all the tools and resources today to be completely energy independent,

we have proven reserves of oil to completely meet our needs for at least the next 50 years in our own country!

we have proven reserves of coal to last 250 years to meet all of our energy needs at present consumption!

we have proven technology to be able to produce all our electrical needs indefinably thru nuclear power!!

but because of special interest what do we have.

A near complete dependence on foreign oil,

brand new nuclear plants that environmentalists were able to keep from starting up by convincing the EPA to withhold their final operating permits

clean coal technology that is not even being considered because of al the nut Gore.

fertile fields that for generations were the envy of the world that are now being utilized to make fuel that has been proven to have more problems that the problem it was meant to solve

and a host of other solutions to the energy problems that could help us to weather our energy needs until technology comes up with a better solution!

BUT we have to get back [if it is still even possible to the fact that majority rule not special interest rule is the law of the land.

a good start would be if the government would start obeying the constitution once again.
