Jesus, I would talk with the non-union rep. Those bastoids should be made to pay! I would never stand for such abusive behavior, I'd be checking the help wanted ads right now!
more of a statement than a question.

What depresses me is these starting companies want you to wait three weeks for your first paycheck. Then they only give you 170-200 dollars after taxes. That is baloney right there. If you want people to stick around, quit taking 80% of their paycheck in school fees and whatever other nonsense you can tack on there. Be honest about your signing bonuses, too. $1500 means nothing if someone has to be with the company over a year to see 1/2 of that.

I hear that about bonuses.Companies glamour up there websites but fail to mention what it takes to earn that bonus. They know they won't get the drivers if they did.

When you start any new job, you're going to wait 2-3 weeks for a check. If they only give you 170-200 dollars, stop babysitting truckstops.

I was raised near Nashville, TN and know a few in the music industry. Wow, does a lot go on in the background the fans never know about. Those bus drivers have some tales also. One thing for sure, I've never heard anything negative about Willie Nelson. Everybody loves that guy. Wish he still owned that truckstop in Carls Corner, TX.

That's something new I never heard of a trucking company offering a bonus like that. Why not just pay drivers relocation assistance. That 5k moving bonus is laughable and an insult considering how they pay it.
-
They want to make sure the driver stays. It wouldn't be too hard to move there, collect the $5,000 then a week later, move out. Much like some of the hiring bonuses. Every so many months, you get a portion of the hiring bonus. Just like a referral bonus, the person you refer, must stay x number of days, before you get THAT bonus. They got us coming and going, which is why I do not relocate or refer.
I DO however, relocate freight, and refer someone to watch out for the bad coffee or over-cooked hot dogs at the truck stop.NoBluffBuff Thanks this. -
That's cute that you think that solves the problem. That is TRAINING PAY.

I don't even have to go to PG. 4 to put my .02 in. I hear what you guys are saying loud and clear. I KNOW it's gonna suck my first year and then I can look elsewhere if I choose. Right now it's just about getting employed again and getting something going. Who knows how Werner will turn out. I might love it and I might hate it.
However, after reading these thoughts placed here, it seems no matter what line of work we choose, there will always be disappointment and angst. It's how you deal with it that matters.G.Anthony Thanks this.
