I learnt that lesson myself, with an empty trailer fortunately. The extra miles 66 to 79 look a lot better after seeing it for myself. Another thing is using Google street view any time you see one of those skinny PA roads go thru a town. I can't remember where it was, but I saw a route that looked too good to be true, except for a right turn in town. Peeked at it in street view and saw a colonial era town with houses built right up to the curb, making it nothing I'd want to attempt with a 53 footer. The longer way was stress free.

In other news, catching up some zees at the Richmond, VA TA. The bigger one at the 89. Santa the shipper put a lump of coal in my stocking for Xmas eve by loading my trailer over gross, and of course turning an unruly detention into a layover so they could dump the bills with security on their way home and be long gone before anyone could pick up their load to scale it.

The overload was minor, so running it anyway on low fuel. The booger was the schedule. There was enough time on the run to make for an easy drive with two breaks. Just not by taking one right there at the shipper. So it was an all nighter last night, then I leave here at 0200 to complete it. I guess there is a bright side: traffic on the beltway is usually light a couple hours before sunrise LOL.

Coops have all been closed, so running low fuel really hasn't saved me from anything. Of course, I'm that guy that would get the random with portables, so I won't take the chance. Parking has been a bit unpredictable, where I was expecting more ghost town than full. Seems some of the smaller stops on the back roads must have a lot of locals leaving their trucks. Taking the back roads from Perry, GA to Augusta, seemed like all the little stops were packed. The major chains and rest areas were much lighter or nearly vacant in some cases. Even got a pull thru spot here right next to the door.

At the Flying J in Fargo ND. I could go stay at the company yard, but that place was depressing. Completely deserted but trucks everywhere. So I came over here to get a meal at Huddle House and a nice shower. I have to be right around the corner at Peterbilt at 7am....

My load to NC is preloaded in the yard and the driver that picked it up accually scaled it and left the ticket. Merry Christmas! Lol!!

WOW... took me almost one hr to catch up with all comments... and now I am hungry... and gotta cook something here...
I don't relate to being at home for Christmas... My home has been in this truck for over 6 yrs now... I can count on one hand the times I spent Christmas with family... that's when I was in Brasil... Here in the USA, my ex-husband and I never did anything special... actually we both used to work thru Christmas...

Hey folks, I couldn't read your comment till now... Glad for your new accomplishment and wishing you all the best on your new job. I heard they pay well and keep drivers always very busy... Hope you enjoy it.
Hey... it seems that Peoplenet was able to update the system and the HOS... :biggrin_25519: That means that I'll leave the terminal here on Friday night instead of Saturday morning so I can expedite everything... Gotta drop this loaded trailer at co. warehouse in IN asap, then will have to move 2 of their trailers in the yard per DSP request... then, gotta go to next shipper in OH for another drop & hook... BOL will be with guard whenever I arrive... Then, take it to same co. warehouse back in IN... And then head to another shipper somewhere else in OH... Will send you pm...
