Too true. We'll never know from that video what the slower driver actually saw in his mirrors. And the driver who brake checked him was clearly out of line either way. I'd just like drivers to think safe first - ***hole second. And not the kind of lipservice safety that we get pounded over our heads by folks who wouldn't know the first thing about driving a big truck. Not because anyone tells you to do it (especially not me) but because we all want to get home wearing anything but a toe tag.

I see a lot of comments from truckers with a 4 wheeler mentality.

You want to assume the slower truck did something wrong, which maybe he did, but guess who was caught on video doing something that will probably cost him his job, and his cdl?

Keep it up. More dashcams are popping up every day, and the video is a little better from us slower trucks in the right lane, since we do not have a trailer ahead of us we are tailgating, or are rapidly whipping in and out of lanes.
Smile and say 'government cheese' when you pass us.

That may be true to a point, but remember when you are whipping over in the hammer lane to avoid bumps between west Memphis and Earle the dash cam may just show nothing ahead of you to cause this. I was the one passing the slower truck that had to take a median dive because of it. Told Arkansas Highway Patrol exactly where it happened, guess what his dash cam showed. My point is they can be used to hang the cam owner as well as save him. True he only rubbed the fender and bent the heavy as hell Texas bumper on my 359 never seen me playing with his phone

Here's the thing I don't get. Maybe it just because I'm a 'paranoid and wimpy' driver but when someone almost side swipes me while going by I'm not giving them the option to brake check me like that. I'm slowing down and getting them away from me.

I'm not trying to say the dashcam will let you get away with driving like an idiot. Most of the over the counter dashcams are not set up to show if you are using a turn signal or not.
Some of the commercial spy cams, are, and will show more than that.

I'm not diving into the median to avoid some vehicle hitting, me, either.
(with the exception of maybe a gas tanker, engulfed in flames)

Anybody that does rapid lane changes is taking a chance, turn signal, or not.

Other than an anvil dropping out of the sky in front of you like in a roadrunner cartoon, there is no reason to whip into another lane rapidly. It means you weren't paying attention.
If another vehicle is trying to force you into another lane, let it hit you. when you try to dodge out its way, you end up with more problems, and most of the time the vehicle who triggered your stupid move never stops.
    They're gone. Not a scratch.
Heck, I've seen four wheelers run into another one trying to dodge a piece of paper or empty plastic bag blowing across the road.

AND....I see too many truckers driving no better or worse than the idiots in the cars. I'm sick of it.
@#@!#$ the 'professional' rhetoric. If you have some years on the road and have not figured out how to drive a truck safely, you are too stupid to drive a truck. Too many of you are counting on luck.

not sticking up for anyone BUT the view from dash cam is not the same as the view from the drivers seat..
unless the dash cam is on the drivers side at the same high as the drivers eye is will not show what the driver sees.
i have 2 dash cams both at the top of the windshild looking at the hood mirror yes you can see down the side of the trailer but no you can't see the end of the trailer and a truck 50 ft. back in the other lane you can't see

I don't care what happened before. There was no reason for it, just some ignorant redneck bravado. What happened before the wreck does not matter. The driver of the Pete caused the Freightliner to hit him. End of story.
