snowy, I already answered that question for you, same as now the ATA etc, was pushing for the repeal of the two 1am to 5am periods for a restart . that way they can shoot the guys out the door sooner.

Who said I don't make enough with the available hours? But I believe your statement that accidents will be on the rise is incorrect! I hardly use the 70 hours in 8 days, But why is this the only industry that goes by an 8 day work week? DOT looks at the day your on, Plus the 7 prior! why are they keeping us from MAXIMISING our pay! there are plenty of jobs that have risks as in the trucking industry, But their not governed like we are! you don't know me! or how much money I make! AGAIN (as you put it) if you like being neutered ? that's OK by me, Although I'm not in outlaw driver anymore, I only run 1 log book these day's, 10 hours is plenty enough time to get rest and be able to drive 11 the next day, Which this is why the FMCSA has placed This regulation in affect, then we should be able to do it every day Buy the way? which agency do you work for?

You can thank our Congress. When they passed the Original STAA act revamping the HOS was part of it. The FMCSA was supposed to have the new reg out by 1999. The first thing they came up with was so soundly denounced by everyone from Crash and Pat to the ATA, OOIDA and Teamsters that they went back to the drawing board and came up with the 11,14,70 starting in 2004.

We all understand that no one NEEDS to be in the sleeper during their 10. The problem is you log line 1 when you ARE in the sleeper. And you also say THAT is legal. It is not. Even the bear chimed in on the other thread and said when you are in the sleeper you must log sleeper.

Of course I totally understand that the 10 is the 10 however you get it. And I couldn't care less that you log sleeper as off duty. I'm glad you get away with it. I hate to see anyone get in trouble for such a thing. But it is still wrong to log off duty when you are in the sleeper.

That is my only point -- You claim it is legal. It is not.

So no one is allowed to be in a bad financial situation? No divorces, medical bills, unforseen items such as your water heater breaking or your 4-wheeler breaking down?

No one is allowed to work overtime to save money?

No one is allowed to work overtime because they simply love to drive?

I have been working 6-7 days a week for the last 14 years. Most of my career has been spent in areas of the industry that have more relaxed rules, or were exempt from HOS rules all together. Never once have I been in an accident.

Its very sad that after 23 years, you have the ignorance of a rookie. Please tell me you're trolling.

Look, If you cant make it on 5-6 days a week.....Then what does that extra day matter? Your killing yourself over what?

I understand Bills and bad situations happen, But if We let Drivers work 7 days a week, After a while that driver is going to be so wore out, It will start affecting his/her health, attitude and can be a ticking time bomb on the street......

I mean Really, 1 day off a week isn't sufficient?

OK? How do you account for me? I use do doctor my logs a ran every day for years, never had a issue! Never a accident, I've never slid off the road, never hit anyone/thing, I've got over 3 million miles under my belt, you DOT guys are making it harder for these rookie driver to be able to take home time, thus this is worse! Having to sit at T/S because you got them neutered on hours, that they can't get descent home time, and forced to stay out longer, if your not DOT? Your a cooperate mega, trying to make rookie drivers believe your line of BS! I know many drivers that have been around as long as I have and longer, that have more miles than I, that have never had an accident, so! Your words are meaningless, they have no weight to them, and your conclusions are wrong

I'd rather run 2 weeks straight then have 4 days off with the work I do.

OTR I've worked 40 days straight without a 34 hour reset, running off recap and was never wore out or killing myself, and that was with flatbedding.

    Yeah we run 5/2, 6/2, or 6/1.

I like my two days off so I run 6/2. I could make an extra $250/week if I ran 6/1 but one day off isn't enough for me to do what I need done around the house lol.

    Cat sdp Thanks this.
