There will not ever be the perfect trk and trl. setup unless you are doing one type of job all the time.
There are times I wish I had shorter wheel base, but I need what I have to make bridge law and balance weight.
Currently thinking about going longer for a bigger sleeper

Not just specifically about the Evolution, but I've noticed many of the trucks in the papers, new, are shorter wheelbese than they used to be, we used to have some WS with not the huge sleeper but the next step down, and a 244 inch wheelbase with a setback axle, and I'm seeing 230 inch wheelbase now with the 82 inch sleeper.

The Evolution is designed to reduce turbulence, so they closed it up some(shorter). You can still get other configurations, though, if you look for them. You should be able to specify wheelbase in a search for new trucks.

I'm running a 2010 Cascadia 72" XT with a 227" wheelbase. I've a slimline cabinet rack tight behind the cab which doesn't extend more than the airkit. Fifth wheel is all he way back roughly 4" back from centre. I run oversize and usually have 2' to 3' overhang off the front of the trailer with no problem at all. My exhaust is horizontal however...

I'm running a '13 Cas evo mid roof on flatbed now, with the fifthwheel set up all the way and a really nice double box full size headache rack. Love the fifthwheel set up, because I can climb on the load using the rack as steps and foot holds.

    There is plenty of room.

also doing 60-62 mph riding the throttle gets me above 7.5 mpg on a heavy load easy. the suspension is stiffened up on the evos so you're not being thrown around the cab like in the previous cascadias, the seats are upgraded too so it's a better ride. Lots of room in the sleeper, but you may want a side box if you're running a full compliment of securement gear- even then it takes some creative storage techniques.
