zf freedom line transmission problem

    Hi everyone! I have 06 Volvo ed12 with 12 spd zf freedom transmission. After washing engine experienced many problems. First SM appeared on display then after shutting down, engine would not start.I managed to start engine using solenoid.but could not shift with out problems, SM would reappear . Couple days later lost all electrical power to transmission . No power on the sifter and two lines on display. Replaced voltage doubler ,now I have electrical power to shifter but can not put transmission into gear SM beeps . I have following active codes mid128 pid 27 fmi5, mid128 pid84 fmi9,mid128 sid 231 fmi2, SEA J1939 link data irratic and mid144 but nothing more with this one. I do not have diagnostics tool , trying to find out if someone else have had similar problem and what to look for. Thanks

    Was the speedo acting funny, hand moving not holding steady at speed?

    Nothing wrong with speedo. I am trying to find out if problem is with transmission or elsewhere.I was claiming hill when I lost electrical power to transmission.

    If you look inside batt. box for the small set of wires that have a push in fuse from pos. + an - sides of batt. they should run 12v. to trans. not sure how your 06 is set up but if not in batt. box look in fuse panel at big 12v. studs that main power runs into fuse box for trans power?

    My 2005 did that -leaving stoplight bobtail very rough road- in 11th got the beep and SM message(stayed in 11 did not shift),I did not know it meant service module ,thought it meant 'select manual':biggrin_25524: so I did and rocked the shifter and got 12th.
    No more issues for the next 700 miles ,but took it in to volvo just incase,tech said they instruct fleet mechanics to clean every connection to and from the batts every 30 days.Found the wires from the voltage doubler lose (came off in his hand).
    I clean mine every year.
    all the posts and the bars and little wires that run from the batts (goofy set up )

    I am checking wires and trying to get sense of those faulty codes, Fuses are fine I do have electrical power to shifter but looks like I entered some derate mode since I can not rev rpm past 1700. Thanks

    Disconnect the battery bank for a few and see if it resets?
    Do all the cheap stuff first ,but you may have a XYZ shifter issue, how is the air pressure? mine needs 90 psi minimum

    I did I checked voltage to TCU , air pressure is fine shifter shown N but I do have vehicle speed sensor code and J1939 link issues. I am trying to make sense of that. Thanks

    Speed sen. is on tail of trans. speedo will wiggle a bit at speed when they go bad, bolt or torx then pry it out and take it with you to parts store and buy new part
