Looking for a dispatch company to use?
Looking around I found https://www.google.com/search?q=dis...tf-8#q=truck+dispatch+service&revid=475549113
From looking at them it seems they all offer the same services with little differences. One offered cpa service.
Are they all somewhat similar as far as services?
I could imagine rates, getting started and cancellation would be different.
There is one of these companies on google's 1st page that allows you to download the contract agreement. Seems simple except one part in there I didn't like. So still looking.
So does it come down to whether or not the dispatcher is actually looking out for you in order to keep your business?
(I've had a few dispatchers. I know when it comes down to it. They only look out for one thing.)
If you use one or used to use one.
Which one.
Additional question.
Did you purchase a dispatch software or would that only be for 5+ trucks? Would it even benefit for -5 trucks. I can keep track of where 1-3 trucks are with a dry erase board.
Which dispatch service to use? Additional question on dispatch software.

If you own several trucks and are driving plus looking for work for your other trucks. I think you would be better off leasing to a carrier and use the carriers agents and board to load you and your trucks.
-
If I had 5 trucks and the drivers found their own freight.
If I had 5 trucks and I found freight for them.
If I was leased to someome else.
If I had my own company.
Where did I specifically mention I had more than 1 truck and I was looking for freight for them and driving myself.
My question still stands.
Looking for a dispatch company.
Which company and how to choose.
What's the difference between a dispatch company and leasing to a specific company?
Although I do appreciate you knowing my needs and all about my company.
So which company should I lease to.
Can I run off my own authoritty insurance plates mc.
I went through all this trouble of getting it. I'd hate to have wasted the money. -
OK you asked about software for several trucks so I wondered if you have more than one truck. My thinking is if you are going to pay a dispatch service why not lease to a carrier. If you lease to someone your authority goes on the shelf. Plates you can use. Insurance I think varies with who you lease to. If that does not appeal to you keep doing what you are doing. If you let a dispatch service do your leg work for you the only contacts you develop is with them. If you work for numerous brokers you spread yourself out and build relationships with more than one person. As far as carriers. I work for Admiral Merchants. Landstar,Mercer any of the bigger carriers have over 100 agents spread out over the US and Can. which gives you more contacts. Over time you build relationships with various agents. You know who to call for different areas. Plus they watch inbound reports and call you. The catch is it does not happen overnight for either scenario. It takes years to get somewhere in this business unless you have an"in" somewhere. There is no one size fits all.

"I bet you know everything don't you. I bet your a supertrucker."
Back to software. that was just an additional off topic question. Instead of making a brand new thread.
So if I had one truck what benefit does it do. if I had three trucks or 5 trucks what benefit does it give me. Let's say I do have 3 to 5 trucks and I was at home dispatching.
Does it give me any benefit?
I'm just wondering only thing I know about dispatching software is it keeps track of your trucks with the individual loads.
I thought you was with Admiral. I might even know you. I used to be with Admiral as well but they didn't don't have trailers to rent I followed a dispatcher over from another company. (Lesson learned) Ran PO for awhile.Last edited: Dec 29, 2014

I've been wanting to go on my own for a long time. I've got enough cash to hold me for a while.
I just bought a trailer. I ocasionally have brokers call me up asking if I'm available to take a load.
Not enough to keep me busy 5 days a week.
however enough that they know my number and if I start calling them more often. It will eventually keep me busy 5 days a week.
so I'm going to do it. I will just would like a dispatch service to run the paperwork for a while until I get the hang of it or have enough direct contracts I wouldn't need to bother with them.Last edited: Dec 29, 2014

If you need someone to keep your paperwork straight I would find a bookkeeping company. Work for the brokers that are calling you and go from there.
