Lots of questions. Some mega companies ie. Prime,CRST,ENGLAND ETC. Will require you to run team after passing with the trainer for safety,insurance reasons and to " make more grip off of the truck" usually try to team you with someone compatible,maybe even someone in the graduating class that you know. Try to get a TWIC CARD or Enhanced Drivers License so you can go into Canada. This is desirable to some employers. More than likely you wont be " Livin Large" the 1st year. I was eating green beans out ofa can in my sleeper and living like a monk on a crusade my 1st year. Pre trip isnt bad,just put your hands on everything and repeat the drill: "Not rusty,securely mounted,not leaking,not broken.

 

Just remember on the pre trip to simplify things. There are hard and soft items on your truck.

Hard items (rims, fan blades, etc...) shouldn't be Cracked, bent, broke or loose and properly mounted and secure.

Soft items (hoses, belts, tires etc...) shouldn't be cut, frayed, dry rotted or loose and properly mounted and secure.

Items that hold a liquid or air should not leak.

There's a bit more that goes into a pre trip, but if you heed to the hard/soft theory you'll get 90% of your pre trip right.

 

ECO equals small truck which to my understanding a vast majority of company drivers a required to take. You will team drive with a trainer after passing your cdl. Two phases of training 1)PSD which is training for cdl and 2) TNT which is teaming with a trainer for the required mileage and your trainer and fm must sign off that you are ready to solo. As for your pretrip that should be covered in depth by your PSD trainer because he gets a bonus if you pass all 3 exams the first time,hence they should be motivated to help you know it forwards and backwards. Average money depends almost wholly on you and your motivation. Work Primes system and dont slack and you will make pretty good money. Slack off,dont give good etas,deliver late etc and you will be whining about not getting any miles.

Pretty much all you will need with Prime. Later you may wish to get doubles.

 

Pre trip. It's not cracked,damaged, loose or leaking. It's properly mounted and secured. All bolts or nuts are tight. Signs of looseness shiney threads, rust streaks or metal shavings. Say this on your presentation and touch each part your talking about and you will pass no problem.
Hoses-- not cracked,damaged,loose,leaking,no bulges and fittings are tight
