You could prolly make a good living selling accident photos to the newspapers. Heck just walk up to the front of the traffic jam and start clicking.

Didn't read all the posts not sure if this has been covered. For those that think they have a copyright on their image, I think you are public domain. Don't even think you need to be asked. Smart phones are always on and what will you do when Google Glasses come out?

you do need consent depending what your doing, if you posted someone pic on something without consent especially for a profit they can go after you. People sue and win over anything these days no matter how stupid it is.

In most cities, if you take a photograph in public and there are people in the photograph, those people have no claim of rights to the photo. They're out in public and can be photographed at any time. Its a general rule, as a photographer, that you don't walk up to people and just start taking pictures of them. Douchebag paparazzi break that rule every day. In my case, since I plan on using displaying the images and the subject of the images is a human being with rights, it is my responsibility to get their permission and have them sign a release giving me permission to display their image. I think that's kind of where you were going with that rank.

Not necessarily true Wolf. Like I said above, if people are out in public I can take their picture all day and display the picture, as well as sell it, as I see fit, as long as I don't alter the image to put them in a bad light. You only need consent if the person you're photographing is 100% the subject of the image and you're on private property. Out in public everyone is fair game.

hmmz well I was corrected, I do not care for that to be honest in my own opinions. I feel if someone is taking a pic of me and using it for something then I should have to give permission for it. I do know there are ways you can make the person remove your likeness from websites etc if they use your pic but I dont understand all on how that stuff works.
