The cop overreacted. I get that. Now I do not just say this about OP. But how about mounting the transponder properly, having the licence plate where it belongs?
And forget the enforcement officers for a second. A good third if not more of trucks that haul containers got one or more mudflaps missing. So all of them think that that an hour of their time and 50 bucks are more important than windshields#of everyone else.
Yeah, you can cry wolf or you can admit it's mostly your fault, pay the ticket and make your truck road ready.

I would probably think that if he just got a ticket and his plate was too high(which it may very well be) he would've never even brought this topic up.. Im thinking because he was in the back of a cruiser handcuffed and the attitude of this "officer" was the point of why he posted about this incident.

If in fact his plate was too high is irrelevant. This is why people hate/dislike cops…. If the majority of us(and by us I don't mean me) were stopped by this same "officer" we would not end up in the back of a cruiser…..

Because if in fact his plate was too high, he didn't bring this on himself!! Thats a lame statement.

I don't think it is a lame statement.
Try to drive away after fueling and forget to pay for it or put merchandise in your pocket and just leave because you are absent minded or just don't care.

Ez pass system takes pictures of license plates. If you have an operational transponder and it just fails to work that one time it will recognize the plate and will charge the account regardless.
That is why its very much relevant where you position the license plate.

Its a new era when cyber misbehavior gets extra attention. Lets ask OP how many times he got away with not paying the toll. I don't think its the first time . It was the first time he did not get away with it. It was obvious that the cumulative amount of unpaid tolls might be in hundreds of dollars.

As far as the cops they are not top models for you to like them. Some people dislike truckers.

why would the plate being to high be completely irrelevant??? if it wasn't in the proper place , the camera didn't read it. that would be very relevant. it why he was stopped to begin with.

if he his plate was in the proper place, the camera would have read it and simply charged it to his ez pass. then none of this would happened , correct??

but what we have is one side of the story, can you be sure the op was complete sweetheart when stopped. why was his license plate so high to begin with, shouldn't he know the rules since he runs up there all the time

So make sure my license is at appropriate height and transponder is in the right spot and I won't end up in the back of a cruiser and i won't end up with a jerk of a cop trying to get you to admit you "ran the toll"…...

The license plate needing to be at correct height, I got that…..and I agree. But, that doesn't warrant how the cop acted and driver being in the back of a police car…..

Yea, this is true. Maybe irrelevant wasn't what I meant…..maybe I meant to say understood….. And the fact that it was high(i don't know if it was or not, the officer said it was) doesn't warrant the action taken by the "officer"

thank you all for your input in this situation,i went over my ezpass records and the transporter indeed didn't read 3 times that week in the gwb(that is really fishy because it read in all of the other toll both) about the plate I just got a ticket in the mail for the transporter not reading it, so the plate while it was high the cameras still read it, I already wrote a official complaint to the port authority police department, I spoke to the fort lee courthouse and I was told is not a moving violation but the fine can be up to 5k if found guilty so im going hire a lawyer. I don't mind paying a fine but anything over 2k is just above of my budget for tickets.
