You can also get dinged if you speed through the lanes and ezpass will not be any good if caught twice. Now how fast going through the express lane I don't really know, but I guess it is supposed to be the same as going through the gated lanes.

 

That's a giant steaming pile of BS. I've gone thru the GWB tolls many hundreds of times, and their transponder readers are garbage and don't work a good portion of the time. The camera gets a picture of the entire front of the truck also, so if the plate were on the grille you'd still be able to see it, and thus bill it. There is zero reason to tie up a lane on the GWB for a BS ticket like that. OP, lawyer up and fight.

And, for those of you bashing cops, Port Authority IS NOT NYPD. It's the Port Authority of NY and NJ.

 

It is BS to end up in cuffs over a toll violation. The license plate being to high, he's just trying to stick it to us. I'm glad the OP filed a complaint. Call around for lawyers and print out your ez pass records for court. To show that you are honest and have being paying tolls. GWB sucks anyway, nice view though.

 

when mine hasn't read in ny, when they find the plate, and the account is current , they send a violation notice, and charge my account, I don't get a ticket, just a notice a violation occurred. perhaps this happened because it was the third time

 

My account gets charged when the transponder doesn't read, and on the ezpass statement it lists whichever plate number it caught instead of the transponder #. my tractor and trailers are all in their record system.

 

yep the plate number is matched to the transponder, wonder if being the 3rd time that week triggered them to come after him?? perhaps a alarm went off, lol

 

I know plenty of booths have a buzzer and flashing strobe when you run the toll...never had anyone look twice when it goes off...can't say it dosnt happen tho
