New hire bonus

I got $250, it was advanced $25 a day during training then equalized on my paycheck at 6 month anniversary... always seems to change and I think depends on when and how u come into the company...call finance

 

When was with the company a year ago it was $250; you could either take it as an advance, or as a lump sum once you reach the mileage requirement. When I was there the mileage requirement was 60,000 miles and it was based on miles driven, not time. (I was there the same time as goblue; he and I went through training together.)

However, I should mention something very important about this. In order to be paid the bonus, you need to be a current employee at the time they end up actually paying out the bonus. In practice, this ends up being approximately one month after you achieve the mileage requirement, apparently due to delays in their accounting system. Unfortunately, no one at the company told me this ahead of time (the part about the one month delay), so even though I drove about 65,000 miles for them, I ended up not getting the bonus...since I left to take a break about two weeks after I achieved the mileage requirement. If I had known about the one-month delay ahead of time, I would of course have stayed the extra week or two beyond what I did. That was the one bad experience I had with the company during my year there.

(I was flatbed and 14/7, so it took longer to achieve the mileage goal. Van drivers achieve it sooner since they spend more time driving rather than securing loads...of course their pay per mile is also lower than flatbed...)

 

OK...what I meant in my post above was that even when Roehl's mileage system shows that you've hit 60,000 miles, you still have to wait another month (or so) for the payroll department to get around to paying you the bonus. And if you leave before the payroll department does that, you lose the bonus. So if you're thinking of leaving, don't do so until you actually see the bonus in one of your paychecks.
